Gus Laurents

Funeral services for Gus Laurents 80, of Gueydan will be held at 2:00 p.m. 
Saturday in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur.  Burial is in 
St. Anthony Cemetery will be under direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.

Laurents died at 3:00 p.m. Thursday in a Kaplan Hospital.  A native of Laurents, 
he was a retired rice farmer.

He was a former director of Jefferson Davis Parish Farm Bureau and a charter 
member on the Board of Directors of Jefferson Davis Electric Co-Op, on which he 
served 25 years.
	
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Adele Champagne Laurents; two sons, Col. Robert 
Laurents of Washington, D.C., and Gus Laurents Jr. of Gueydan; three daughters, 
Mrs. J. E. Flash of Grand Chenier, Mrs. Joseph Weldon of Thibodeau and Mrs. W. 
M. Kelly of Bay Mimette, Ala; four sisters, Mrs. W. F. Fisher, and Mrs. Olive 
Lovell, both of Lake Arthur, and Mrs. Melchior Campbell of Gueydan and Mrs. Ione 
Huff of Port Arthur; two brothers, Guy Laurents of Laurents and Frank Laurents 
of Rosenberg, Tex; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
