Born in Germany in 1873. he came to America when 16 and settled with his family in Nebraska. From there he moved to Missouri, Arkansas and finally Louisiana. He married Anna Bruchhaus at Lockwood Missouri in 1896. Survived by widow and four daughters. Mrs. E. J. Norton, Mrs. A. A. Miessner. and Mrs. Lydia Hebert of Jennings and Mrs. Emma Jenkins of Oberlin. Seven grandchildren and one brother. Albert Wild of Amhnrst, Neb. Burial at China Cemetery near Elton. Mrs. Chris Wild, 84. died November 2.1959. Born Anna Bruchhaus in Germany on April 8,1875. Came to America when she was 12. Survived by, in addition to those named above, 2 sisters, Mrs. George Aylsworth of Elton. Mrs. Albert Hetzel of Jennings. 5 brothers. VVillie Bruchhans of Lockwood, Missouri: Fred, Henry, Rudolph and Otto of Elton. A. R. McBurney, 71, died October 14, 1947. Born 1876 at Proctor, Illinois. Cattleman, known as the "father" of the cattle industry in this area, set up cattle market at Welsh. William Rees, 83, died 1949. Born in Bradewood, Illinois 1866, homesteaded the tract on which he lived all his life. Survived by 3 sons, Joseph H. and Seymour A. of Galveston, Texas, and Gomer W. Rees of Elton, and a daughter, Mrs. J. C. von Schoiack of Huntington Park, Calif.. a sister. Mrs. William Jenkins of Elton. Mrs. Minnie Schroder, 84, mother of Mrs. Henry Bruchhaus died in Elton. September 22,1947. From Lockwood, Missouri. Henry Walton, 96. died Monday, June 26, 1950. Native of Yorkshire, England, had lived in the Etton area since 1887. Born January 2,1854, came to America in 1856 with his parents. Family settled in Illinois, then moved to Iowa. Came to Elton with his young bride. Two children survived, Mrs. Odem Manuel and a son, George both of Elton. Mrs. Anna Jones, 94, died in the home of her daughter Mrs. Bert J. Hine in Elton 1951. Born in North Wales. Great Britain, in 1857, came to America at an early age. Ray Scott, 75, died June 23, 1950. Born Christmas Day in 1875 in Iowa, he came to Elton with parents in 1886. Married Miss Vida Baker in 1898. Survived by widow and three daughters, Mrs. A. J. Tupper of Elton, Mrs. Donald S. Wade of New York, Mrs. Eugene Summerrow of Houston: two sons. Burr Dell of Elton and LaRue ot Lake Charles. Thomas Kennedy, Sr., 89. died February 19, 1948, Pleasant Summit Cemetery near Elton, sometimes called China Cemetery. Survived by James and Robert (sons) of Elton and Thomas, Oberlin, one daughter of Chicago Mrs. Ben Buller, 94. died April 14, 1057. Born Modiste Miller in Basile, 1863. Husband died 1951 after 72 years of marriage. Survived by three sons, Ephrom of Elton. Jerome of West Lake. and Cleveland of Lake Charles, one daughter. Mrs. Ozema Richard, of Manchester, La., one sister, Mrs, Clopha Guillory of Elton. Mrs. H. C. Phenice, 76. died August 29 1952. Native of London England, came to America at 11, settled with family in Jennings, moved to Hathaway. Married H. C. Phenice in 1900. Mrs. Maire LaFleur, 75 died May 25, 1952. Resident of Elton since 1909. Survived by two sons. M. A. LaFleur of Kinder and L. D. Lafleur of Jennings. Two daughters Mrs. R B. Putnam of Shreveport and Mrs. Ed Savoy of Elton. Owned LaFleur Rooming House in Elton. Wife of Bye LaFleur who owned a cotton gin. Mrs. Linscomb, 74. died February 25,1953. Born Celozie Bellard in Eunice in 1878. Survived by one son. R. E. of Elton. two daughters, Mrs. Elvie Bergeron of Elton and Mrs. Ellis Broderick of New Orleans. James William Stokes, 62. died December 1952. Born 1890 in New Orleans, came to Elton in 1917. Served as mavor of Elton for 13 years. Then with Gulf States, moved to Jennings. Survived by widow, three daughters. and one sister. Mrs. Otto Bruchhaus, Sr.. of Elton. Mrs. Edna Winn, born 1890, died April 16,1953. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Gibbs of Elton. Survived by two sons, one granddaughter and one brother, D. E. Gibbs of Elton, and her parents. Mrs. F. P. Gibbs, 85 died August 5, 1953. Born Cecile Sherman in Cameron, La. Survived by her hushand and one son. D. E. Gibbs and one sister. Fulbert Pascal Gibbs, 88, died February 27, 1957. Born in Lowry. La.. moved to Elton area in 1920. Survived by one son, D. E. Gibbs. grandchildren, and four brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Della Reed Broussard, born Della Darbonne, 49, died 1954. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. and Evelyna Buller Darbonne. Survived by her parents, one son, five brothers, Thomas, Ike and Joe Darbonne of Elton, Willis of Lafayette and Deuz of Lake Charles, two sisters. Mrs. D. Langley of Elton and Mrs. Marius Manuel of Iowa. Orion Wallace Henderson, 80. died April 20, 1953. Spanish American war veteran. Born in 1872 at Burnside, Iowa, lived in Elton much of his life. Survived by widow, the former Jessie Brundage. two sons, three daughters (one Mrs. J. T. Christian of Kinder), one brother, three sisters, one Mrs. John Sabatier of Elton).
