Bailey, druggist, is a native of Lafayette parish, Louisiana, born in 1858. He is a son of Abijah and Susan Bailey, both natives of Louisiana. Mr. Bailey's father was a printer in Lafayette. He died during the war. His mother is still living in Lafayette parish. The subject of this sketch spent his boyhood days in Lafayette parish, and received such education as the public and private school afforded. When quite young he entered a drug store and learned the business. He married, in 1883, Miss Nina Hebrard, daughter of P. Leonce Hebrard, of Opelousas. Mr. Bailey began conducting a drug store on his own account, first, as manager for M. T. Young & Co., of Opelousas, in which he continued until 1887, when he purchased the stock, and has since conducted the business with marked success. He is an energetic business man, and is esteemed by those with whom he has cast his lot. Southwest Louisiana Biographical and Historical, Biographical Section, p. 10. Edited by William Henry Perrin.
