He is one of Lafayette's old landmarks who still survive. He is the father of the little town of Broussardville, and was its first post-master. In local public affairs, Mr. Broussard has always been prominent, though he does not claim to be a politician. In a business sense, as well as otherwise, Mr. Broussard's life has been a success. He has always given his chief attention to planting and merchandising; and now owns and controls four hundred acres of fine land in Lafayette, besides large tracts in other parishes. For the past twenty years he has conducted a flourishing mercantile business. Southwest Louisiana Biographical and Historical, Biographical Section, p. 205. Edited by William Henry Perrin.
