All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Percy Michel Girard was born on 14 Sept.1859 in Lafayette, Louisiana, the second child of Michel Eloi and Maxim (Crow) Girard. He attended Centenary College in Jackson, Louisiana, and graduated from Tulane Medical School as an MD in 1882. He established his practice at his home on 1122 Lafayette Street, which is now the Lafayette Museum. He was known as "Dr. Percy" to the community, and was active in cane and cotton farming. He married Leila Beatrice Singleton in Lafayette on 21 Oct. 1893, and had five children. Their "plantation house" is now the "Cafe' Vermilionville" on Pinhook Road. Dr. Percy died 11 Dec.1944 from kidney failure at his Lafayette St. home, and is buried at the Lafayette Protestant Cemetery.
