He received the advantages of a good common school education, and studied law under his father, ex-Lieutenant Governor Mouton. He was admitted to the bar at the Supreme Court in Opelousas. After leading the life of a planter, and being engaged in other general business, for a period aggregating about four years, Mr. Mouton began the practice of law and has met with much success.
