St. Julien is a native of Louisiana, born 1844. His father was an extensive planter of Lafayette parish. He died in 1867, of yellow fever. J. G. St. Julien received the benefit of a good education as a boy. In 1863, he enlisted in the Confederate States service, Eighteenth Louisiana Regiment, General Mouton's brigade and General Taylor's division. Mr. St. Julien is a planter, and in flourishing circumstances. His plantation consists of fifteen hundred acres of land, and is a model one. In former years Mr. St. Julien gave his exclusive attention to stock raising, and has only recently combined with this the raising of cotton. Mr. St. Julien is a member of the police jury of Lafayette parish, and as a member of the executive board, he leaves nothing in his power undone for the general improvement and development of his parish. He is a member of the Farmers' Alliance, and is a Democrat in politics. In religion he is a Catholic. Southwest Louisiana Biographical and Historical, Biographical Section, p. 245.
