Voorhies, attorney at law, Lafayette, is a native of St. Martin parish, Louisiana, born October 24, 1861. He is the son of Felix Voorhies, of whom mention is made in this work. E. G. Voorhies was educated in the schools of St. Martinsville. He began life as clerk in a mercantile establishment in St. Martin parish. In this he continued until 1886, when he entered the law office of his father. He was admitted to the bar before the Supreme Court at Opelousas in 1887. Immediately thereafter he located in Lafayette, where he has since practised [sic] his profession. Mr. Voorhies also does an abstracting and notary business. He is a young man of fine intellectual qualifications and is a rising member of the Lafayette bar. Southwest Louisiana Biographical and Historical, Biographical Section, p. 248.
