Shaw of the aforesaid State and Parish of Lafayette and Camiel [sic] Lyons of the same State and Parish of Saint Landry are held and firmly bound unto A. B. Romanl Governor of the aforesaid State, and his successors in office, in the sum of Three ------- hundred dollars, for the payment of which, well and truly to be made, they bind themselves, their heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and severally: In Witness Whereof, They have hereunto signed at Opelousas, this Fifteenth day of January in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty- three. The Condition of the above obligation is such, That Whereas the above bound James S. Shaw has this day obtained license to marry Mifs Mary Lyons Now if there should be or hereafter appear no legal impediment to said marriage then and in that case, the bove obligation to be null and void, otherwise to remain in full force.
