The Rev. Louis Richard, pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard, will be the celebrant of the memorial Mass and will conduct the services. Eulogy will be shared by the Rev. Floyd Calais. Concelebrants will be Monsignor Harry Benefiel, the Rev. Joseph Brennan, the Rev. John DeLeeuw and the Rev. Lambert Lein, SVD. Giftbearers will be Flo's grandchildren. Lectors will be Kathleen Dumesnil and Jennifer G. Caffey. Survived by her loving husband of 57 years M.P. Dumesnil Jr., of Lafayette; two daughters, Kathleen Dumesnil and husband Peter Bulliard and Monica D. Trahan, all of Lafayette; six sons, David J. Dumesnil, of Broussard, Marvin Dumesnil and wife Lisa, of Olla, Jerry Dumesnil, of Broussard, Leonard Dumesnil, of Youngsville, Thad Dumesnil and wife Betsy and Millard P. Dumesnil III, all of Lafayette; a sister, Audrey Menard, of Lafayette; brother, Ted Bernard and wife Patsy, of Broussard; a brother-in-law, Bobby Caffey; two sister-in-laws, Eleanor Guidroz and Roberta Dumesnil; 12 grandchildren, who will deeply miss their "Grand mere," Avery and Arianne Castille, Joshua and wife Ashley Dumesnil, Cari Olivier, Kyndra, Malorie and Lainey Dumesnil, Jenci Dumesnil, Braxton, Sophie and Chloe Dumesnil and Janae Dumesnil; 10 stepgrandchildren, Cate, Andrew and Molly Bulliard, Clay Nelson, Karl Trahan Jr. and wife Barbara, Ian Trahan and wife Natalie, Cheri Roane and husband George, Blair, Tyler and Che' Domingue; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Nicholas, Jacob and Michael Trahan, Henrico, Zachary and Gabrielle Trahan, Josie and Julian Roane, Mason Domingue, and Brayden Granger. Preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Hilta Bernard; in-laws, Millard P. Sr. and Etta Foote Dumesnil; sister, Helen Caffey; sister-in-law, Theresa Comeaux and her husband, Leo; and three brothers-in-law, Howard Dumesnil, Jay Menard and Allen Guidroz. Flo was a native of the Broussard community and a longtime resident of Lafayette. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Cecilia Catholic School in Broussard. In her early years of marriage, she was in charge of bookkeeping and payroll for the family corporation, M.P. Dumesnil Construction Inc. Throughout her life, Flo was a devout Roman Catholic and attended daily Mass at various churches. Being a lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Broussard, Flo was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and choir. She was also a member of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites in the Community of St. Joseph, Guardian of Carmel. She was clothed in 1993, made her first profession in 1995 and made vows in 1999. Her strong faith was evidenced by her courageous surrendering to God's will. Flo performed many acts of charitable services for the disabled and impoverished in the community. Her charitable services included Bishops Services Appeal Diocese of Lafayette, The Carmelite Monastery of Lafayette, Taraharama Childrens Hospital of Creel, Mexico, St. Cecilia School Foundation, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Building Fund, St. Benedict Seminary, Sisters of Divine Providence Foundation, Bishop Perry Learning Center of St. Joseph's Church in Broussard and the Miles Perret Center of Lafayette. Having had four sons in attendance at St. Stanislaus High School in Bay St. Louis Miss., she became an advocate for and a representative of the school for the Lafayette area. She was a volunteer with the Pink Lady Organization at Lafayette General Medical Center. As a homemaker, she was an accomplished seamstress and an "incredible" cook. Bringing the family together for large meals was an important aspect of her life. In her earlier years, she loved vacationing by motorhome with her husband and children. Flo and M.P. were charter members of the Cruisin Cajuns of Lafayette and the American Motorcoach Association. Once the children were on their own, Flo and M.P. enjoyed many international vacations, visiting many historical and religious sites. Visitation at Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Lafayette, on Thursday, July 24, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Broussard, on Friday from 2 p.m. until time of service.
