His remains were buried in the Roman Catholic Church at New Iberia on the afternoon of June 22nd, a fitting monument of his worth, as it was erected almost entirely by his endeavors. The thousands who gathered at his funeral from all sections of the country, to pay the last sad tribute of respect, attest how wide and deep was the veneration and love he had inspired.
