(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, November 16, 1918, Image 5 MARGURITE LOUVIERE IS ACCIDENTALLY KILLED BY HER BROTHER. Sorrow came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. First Louviere Monday morning, and the blow was heavier on their hearts because the people in general were observing the joyous peace day. Marguerite Louviere, their exceptionally bright seven year old daughter was fatally wounded by her brother, Howard, eight years old. The accident happened at eleven o'clock in the morning and the child died at 4:45 o'clock in the afternoon. The funeral was held in New Iberia this Tuesday morning. The body, accompanied by the broken hearted parents and two brothers and a sister of the deceased, was taken to that city on No. 6. Marguerite was returning from a meat market and had her back turned, closing the gate at the home of her parents, when Howard pulled a string which moved the trigger of a single barreled shotgun and emptied the load in his little sister's back. The weapon had fallen to the floor and the little boy was trying to raise it up by the aid of the cord when the fatal accident happened. Mrs. Numa Broussard, a neighbor, telephoned for a physician and also sent for Father Teurlings. Marguerite was beyond medical aid. She was unconscious and life was slowly ebbing away. Her father was not home when the accident happened. He was prostrated when the news reached him. - Lafayette Advertiser.
