All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Published in The Daily Advertiser, Lafayette, LA, Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, Section 6A Mrs. James Lee Love – Lafayette Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Mrs. James Lee Love, 93, the former Mary Roberts, who died at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 24, 2001. Interment will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Olla Cemetery, Olla, La. Mrs. Love, a native of Jena, was the daughter of the late John Wallace Roberts and the former Mary Vena Powers. She had lived most of her life in Lafayette. She was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a B.A. in Education. She worked for many years in the Lafayette Parish School system until her retirement. She was an active member of the Davidson Memorial Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School and was the first woman to serve on the administrative board. Mary was a member of the WSCS (now UMW), served on the pastoral care team at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and did volunteer office work at Lafayette Charity Hospital. Mrs. Love and her husband of 65 years loved to travel, seeing many parts of both the United States and Europe. She loved reading, poetry and was an avid gardener, growing camellias. Survivors include her husband, James Lee Love of Lafayette; one daughter and her husband, Norma and Jim Hart of Natchitoches; one son, John L. Love and his wife, Jan, of Lafayette; one sister, Lorena Ezell and her husband, Roy, of Ruston; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: brothers, Dudley and Woodrow Roberts; sisters, Roberta Jones and Margaret Kay; and infant daughters, Mary Elaine and Linda Ann Love. Pallbearers will be Charles Hart, David Hart, Geoff Hart, John Bourgeois, Francis Bourgeois and Bob Sides. Honorary pallbearers are John M. Love and Kenneth Hart. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. today until service time in Lafayette. Then from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Riser Funeral Home in Olla. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Lafayette or the Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston, Louisiana.
