All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ The Weekly Gazette, Ville Platte, LA December 29, 1917 Well Known Woman Passes Away Mrs. Bathilde Fontenot Wallior, a native of this parish, being born and reared in Chataignier, died at Baton Rouge last Saturday after a lingering illness of several months. The body was brought to Opelousas and Sunday evening was interred in the cemetery at that place. Mrs. Wallior was a daughter of the late T.S. Fontenot, for many years sheriff of St. Landry, and a sister of the present sheriff of that parish, D.M. Fontenot. Deceased was about 47 years of age. She had many relatives and friends in this parish who will be pained to learn of her death. Those who knew her say she was a most excellent woman. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. E. Guidry of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. W. Cade of Sulphur, La. Other near relatives are two sisters, Mrs. B. Crawford of Baton Rouge and Mrs. B. Lafleur and four brothers, Ludovic, Darius, Ariel and Joe Fontenot, all of St. Landry parish.
