COLE, Esq. administrator of the succession of Parene MILLS, deceased, and of the community formerly existing between her and her husband Samuel S. WHEELER also deceased and curator of the estate of said WHEELER praying the sale at public auction of the effects belonging to the said successions and community and particularly of a tract of land and certain slaves in the said petition described and herein below mentioned Pursuant to the advice of a family meeting of the minors Julia E. TABOR, Martha W. TABOR and Hudson W. TABOR, heirs of the said Parene MILLS held according to law before me the Judge on the thirtieth day of May eighteen hundred and forty four. Pursuant to a decree of the Court of Probates of said interior parish rendered at the prayer of said petition on the third day of June eighteen hundred and forty four in accordance with the advice of said family meeting and with the consent duly given of all others interested in accordance also with the written wishes of the creditors of said WHEELER and of said community - ordering adjudging and decree that at this day place and hour the said property real and personal be sold at public auction or probate sale by me the undersigned Judge and auctioneer of said Interior Parish. Pursuant finally to public notices and advertisements in English and French ____ and published in the Lafourche Gazette, a newspaper of said Interior Parish and posted up at the church and court house doors and at divers other public places all for more than thirty days which notices and advertisements were in every respect according to law. I James McALLISTER, Parish and Probate Judge and ex officio and auctioneer in and for said Interior Parish aided assisted and accompanied by Gustave A. KNOBLOCK and H. E. LEDET the subscribing good and competent witnesses have repaired to the court house in the town of Thibodaux for the purpose of effecting said sale when and where we found 1 Jan (?) C. BEATTY, Esq. representing James L. COLE, Esq. curator administrator etc. by virtue of a special power of attorney hereto attached dated July twelfth eighteen hundred and forty four 2 Dr. James S. SCUDDAY, tutor of Julia E. TABOR 3 John H. TABOR, one of the heirs of age and 4 William N. FIELD, undertutor of said minors And when and where in presence of said parties the witnesses bystanders etc. I the Judge read the said advertisement in both languages audibly distinctly and separately and loudly here by and in both languages announced and proclaimed the term and conditions of the sale which as fixed by the parties interested the said family meetings, the tutors and undertutors and by the said decree are as follows to wit: The price of the slaves payable in two equal installments to fall due one in March one thought eight hundred and forty five and the other in March eighteen hundred and forty six. The land payable in three equal installments one in all and each of the months of March of the years eighteen hundred and forty five, eighteen hundred and forty six and eighteen hundred and forty seven. Purchasers whether of land or slaves to give approved security besides a special mortgage on the property purchased and each installment to bear an interest of eight per cent from maturity till final payment. The sale is as follows to wit: M. BOURG, Crier 1 Casey, a Negro woman, aged twenty five or six with her infant six months old appraised at five hundred dollars, adjudicated to Paul LeBLANC for seven hundred dollars, Security Narcisse LeBLANC [both put their mark] 2 Susanne aged about eighteen years (with a infant born since appraisement ages three or four months) appraised at four hundred and fifty dollars, adjudicated to Sugars TURNER for one thousand and ten dollars 3 Rosalie, a Negro girl, aged sixteen appraised at three hundred and fifty dollars, adjudicated to Mary L. TABOR, Mrs. DEZAUCHE, for six hundred dollars, security J. A. SCUDDAY [The next entry is crossed out, it appears to be an erroneous combination of entry number 3 and 4] 4 Jack A Negro man aged sixty five or six appraised at one hundred dollars, adjudicated to John H. TABOR for two hundred and fifteen dollars, security J. A. SCUDDAY Sugars TURNER the purchaser of Susanne and child having failed to furnish the necessary security, she with her child was again offered according to law to be sold for what she would bring at the wish and loss of said TURNER and after being cried for a length of time she was and is adjudicated to John H. FIELD for nine hundred and sixty five dollars, security W. FIELD and wife, by letter hereto annexed. Amount of sale of slaves is two thousand five hundred and twenty five dollars. Lands A tract of land measuring one arpent by twenty deep situate in said parish on the right bank of bayou Lafourche thirteen arpents below the court house in Thibodaux, bounded above by land of Celestin GUYOT and below by Mrs. BARKER (?) or the heirs of Jean BARKER (?) appraised at eight hundred dollars, adjudicated to John C. BEATTY for thirteen hundred and fifty dollars, Dr. J. S. SCUDDAY, security Amount of sale of land thirteen hundred and fifty dollars Of slaves two thousand five hundred and twenty five dollars Total tree thousand eight hundred and seventy five Nothing else remaining to be sold we have closed this sale this day and date above written at twelve o'clock in the day in proof of all of which he said parties present sign with the witnesses and me the judge.
