Daigle Mr. Ludwig Passed Away News reached Thibodaux this week of the death of John Ludwig, whose home and interest are located in Grand Isle, where for many years he was known intimately by citizens of Thibodaux and other parts of Lafourche parish who annually visited the great water resort, which is located in the parish of Jefferson. The exact cause of the gentleman?s death has not been stated, but his ailment made it necessary for him to undergo treatment at the clinic of Dr. Gravois at Golden Meadow. He was a native of Grand Isle, his age being 66 years. The deceased was born and reared on Grand Island, where he not only married and reared a family, but he also made a success of business ventures, he being often commendably mentioned by Thibodaux citizens for the success he had in raising and selling diamond-back terrapins, which are a species of turtle, which are plentiful in Grand Isle. It is said that he had a ready market for the hundreds of terrapin that he would impound and ship away each year. His business success, however, was not confined only to turtles, for he also owned and operated a hotel and a general merchandise store. His funeral was held Monday at 4 p.m., the Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland being in charge. To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife, whose maiden name was Matilda Siddens, and the following named children: Nolte Irwin, Harold Owens, John Albert and Mrs. McNabb, her home being in New York City. ============================================================================================
