Nov 15, 1982 Francis Kennedy Francis J. Kennedy, 72, a native of Scranton, Penn. and a resident of Thibodaux for many years, died 8 a.m. today after a lengthy illness. He was employed with the teaching profession for over 45 years, and organized the first Distributive Education program in Lafourche Parish at Thibodaux High School. He was later instrumental in establishing this program at Central and South Lafourche High Schools and also, in publicizing these programs throughout the state. Upon his retirement in 1975, he continued as a substitute teacher in all subjects, and counseled individuals and secured job placements for students. In May of 1982, he was employed by the Lafourche Parish Council on Aging as Job Placement Specialist in the Senior Community Service Employment Program to find employment for senior citizens age 55 and over, in an area covering seven parishes, Terrebonne included. Mr. Kennedy was also a member of many organizations, such as, the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce; Rotary Club; Lions Club; director for the first Tourism Seminar at Lafourche parish; and the American Council on Alcoholism problems, among others. He is survived by his wife, Lorena Fort Kennedy; a brother, John G. Kennedy of Fort Pierce, Fla.
