Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. today from St. Mary Catholic 
Church in Raceland for Leroy Joseph Grabert Sr., 60, a native of Raceland and 
resident of Lafayette, who died in Lafayette Friday at 2:50 p.m.

He was the husband of Elma Babin Grabert; and the brother of Eldridge J. 
Grabert Sr.

He was preceded in death by his son, Leroy Joseph Grabert Jr.; a sister, 
Dorothy G. Lagarde; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Grabert.

Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial donations to the American Cancer 
Society or Hospice of Acadiana Inc., 4010 West Congress, Suite 208, Lafayette,

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from St. Charles 
Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles for Horace Joseph Lirette, 79, a native 
and resident of St. Charles who died Sunday at his residence.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Boudreaux Lirette; three daughters, Mrs. 
Melvin (Margaret) Gehbauer, Mrs. Jerry (Betty) Benoit and Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) 
Clement, all of Thibodaux; three sisters, Mrs. James (Alice) Champagne and Mrs. 
Joe (Louise) Pellotto, both of Boutte, and Mrs. Fred (Verna) Martin of Raceland; 
19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Taylor Lirette and Letitie Degruise 
Lirette; four brothers, Wallace, Wilfred, Lawless and Simon Lirette; and two 
sisters, Mrs. Andrew (Ida) Lagarde Sr. and Mrs. Paul (Anna) Breaux.

Visitation is scheduled for -6 p.m. until 11 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until 
funeral time Tuesday with interment in St. Charles Cemetery. Memorial donations

Funeral services were scheduled for this morning from Falgout Funeral Home in 
Raceland for Dallas Joseph Louviere Jr., 19, a native and resident of Boutte, who 
died at Boutte Thursday at 10:30 p.m.

He was the son of Dallas Joseph Louviere Sr. and Loretta B. Baudoin; stepson of 
Joella P. Louviere; brother of Julie Simoneaux, Tess Waguespack and Tina Hotard; 
stepbrother of Larry Breaux Jr., Curt Breaux, Angela Dufrene and Ginger Breaux; 
and grandson of Walter Louviere and Louise Pelloto and Earl Breaux and Gertie 
Breaux.

Religious services were held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Raceland with 
interment in St. Mary Cemetery. Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of

Funeral and religious services were held Saturday at St. Bernard Memorial 
Funeral Home, Arabie, for Angeline Chiasson Ryan, 79, a native of Thibodaux and 
resident of Bush, La., for the past seven years, who died Wednesday at 1:30 
p.m.

Interment was in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.

She was the wife of the late Joseph Elmo Ryan; daughter of the late Dora 
Orgeron and Orville L. Chiasson: mother of Joyce Ledet, A.J. Bernard, Joseph R. 
Ryan and the late Gail Sherritt.

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Church, Thibodaux, for Essie Mae Alexander, 73, a native Thibodaux and a 
resident of Baton Rouge who died Monday at 2:10 p.m.

Dismissal services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with 
interment in Allen Benevolent Cemetery in Thibodaux. Visitation is from 5 p.m.-
8 p.m. Wednesday.

She was the wife of the late Reginald A. Alexander; mother of Dr. Reginald 
Alexander of Baton Rouge and Ronald Alexander of Thibodaux; step-mother of 
Eula A. Mitchell of Chicago, Ill.; and daughter of the late Edward and 
Josephine Buckley.

She is also survived by three granddaughters.

and the late Leona Ehrhard Fevret; and sister of Clarence "Bob" Jr. and 
Marshall Fevret, both of New Orleans, and the late Mrs. Alvin (Betty) Hughes.

She is also survived by six grandchildren.

Orleans; and sisters, Elma Gaudin of Houston, and Agnes O'Keefe of Baton Rouge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mosdeste Dionne and Sebastien Haydel.

She was the wife of Wade J. Arabie of Baton Rouge; sister of Myrtle Davidson of

Verret of Daisetta, Texas, A.P. and Thomas Verret, both of Beaumont, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Judith Marie Bourgeois and Norbert 
Francis Riviere; and three brothers, O'Neal Riviere, Earl Riviere and Raymond J. 
Riviere.

Interment was to be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.

grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Bowers Sr.; a son, Louis 
Bowers; parents, Selma Arceneaux and Joseph Loup; and sisters, Mildred

Former Lafourche Superintendant dies 

Robert Moncla, a former Lafourche Parish school superintendent, died 
Thursday at 11:30 p.m. Religious services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. 
Saturday at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, with interment in St. John 
Episcopal Cemetery.

Moncla, 91, was a native of Moncla, La., and a resident of Thibodaux for 70 
years. He served as principal of St. Charles Elementary School and supervisor 
of parish schools before he became superintendent, a post he held from 1942-
1959.

In addition to his work with Lafourche Parish Schools, Moncla worked toward .the 
establishment of Nicholls State University and received an honorary doctorate 
from the University for his Efforts.

He was a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the 
American Legion, Young Men's Benevolent Association and the Louisiana Retired 
Teachers Association.

Moncla is survived by his daughter, Mrs. John (Katherine) Bourgeois, and three 
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Katherine Baber 
Moncla.

Visitation is scheduled from 6:30-10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until funeral 
time Saturday at Landry's Funeral Home. The family has requested that donations 
be made to the St. Genevieve Remembrance Fund or the St. John Episcopal 
Memorial Fund.

Assumption businessman dies
Ronny Sternfels

Funeral services were scheduled today for Ronny Sternfels, Assumption Parish 
businessman and former police jury president who died Saturday morning 
following an apparent heart attack, Sternfels, 50, was president of the 
Sternfels Insurance Co, Service Mortgage Co, and Service Real Estate Co. in 
Plattenville. He was also vice chairman of the Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water 
District.

Sternfels was returning home with his three sons from a hunting trip when he 
died. Religious services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today at St. Anne Catholic 
Church in Napoleonville.

Sternfels served on the Assumption Police Jury from 1964 to 1972 acting as 
police jury president the first two years of his two-term tenure. He was 
instrumental in establishing Assumption General Hospital.

His public service also included seven years on the Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water 
District Board of Commissioners. He was appointed to the fresh water district 
post in August 1978 and had served as both treasurer and vice chairman of the 
board.

He was also active in the business community serving on the boards of directors 
of Acadian Bank of Thibodaux, Bank of Commerce in White Castle and South Coast 
Gas Co. of Raceland. He was also administrative adviser to People's Federal 
Savings and Loan of Thibodaux.

He was a member of the Life Producers Council of Travelers Insurance Co, and in 
1964 ranked second in the national productions standing for Travelers agents.

He is survived by his wife, Gretchen Kerne Sternfels; his mother Lucy Martinez 
Sternfels of Belle Rose; seven daughters, Christine S. Schonacher of 
Labadieville, Paula K. Sternfels of Metairie, Gretchen Louise Sternfels and 
Sarah S. Thiac, both of Thibodaux, Margaret A., Lucy M. and Julie M. Sternfels, 
all of Napoleonville; three sons, Leo D. Sternfels of Plattenville, Roy T. 
Sternfels of Thibodaux and Ronny J. Sternfels Jr. of Napoleonville and a sister 
Dolly S. Brien of Belle Rose.

He is also survived by five grandchildren.
