Church, Labadieville for Lucien J. Boudreaux, 80, a native and resident of 
Labadieville who died Sunday at 9:45 p.m.

Visitation has been scheduled from 4-11 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until funeral 
time Wednesday at Landry's Funeral Home in Labadieville, with interment in the 
church cemetery.

He was the husband of Ursula Boudreaux, and father of Mrs. Wilbert (Celine) 
Gautreaux, Mrs. Louis (Juliette) Hebert, Sterling and Preston Boudreaux.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nerville Boudreaux; and 
his brothers and sisters, Aline, Adine, Emily, Anna, Dennis and Justile 
Boudreaux.

Religious services have been scheduled for Wednesday, time pending, at Falgout 
Funeral Home in Raceland for Charles Edward Jeankins, 65, a native of Sayette 
County, W.Va., and a resident of Raceland who died Sunday at 11:31 p.m.

Interment will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Raceland.

He was the husband of Olive Ethel Hall Jeankins; father of Diana Lynn 
Shadell. Anthony Lawson Stover, James Edward and Bonnie Jeankins; and 
brother of Sylvie Hilliard, Lulie, Dorothy, Judith and Judy Jeankins

He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

Funeral Home in Galliano for George King Sr., 65, a native of St. Landry Parish 
and resident of Cut Off for 45 years, who died Monday at 5:50 a.m. in Galliano.

He is survived by his wife, Nora Payne King; three sons, William, Ronnie and 
George King Jr.; nine daughters, Georgie Mae Darjean, Elnora Jenkins, Ella Mae 
White, Rita Mae Rhome, Josephine Hastings, Mona Lisa Patterson, Sandra King, 
Theresa Anne King and Mary Anne King; one sister, Bessie Viloe; 30 
grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Religious services will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Larose at 10 a.m. 
Wednesday with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 5-11 p.m.

Eumesse and Hubert Terrebonne. She is also survived by two grandchildren and 
four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvere Blanchard; brothers, Luderic, 
Edmond and Pierre Terrebonne; a sister, Eugerine Terrebonne; and parents, Tilly 
and Marie Cantrelle Terrebonne.

Religious services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off at 
10 a.m. with interment in the church cemetery. Friends may call between 4-11

Bernadette Catholic Church in Houma for Nicholas "Nick" Pizzolatto Sr., 67, who 
died Tuesday at 9:32 a.m.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Stanek Pizzolatto; four, sons, Nicholas 
Pizzolatto Jr. of Lake Charles; Michael Pizzolatto of Thibodaux; Peter and 
Mark Pizzolatto of Houma; three daughters, Stephanie Parrino of Bunkie, Mrs. 
Robert (Connie) Geter of Zachary, Theresa Pizzolatto of Lafayette; five 
sisters, Sarah Baker of Houma, Dorothy Partana and Rosalie Chambers, both of 
Lafayette, and Lucille Cober and Rita Nicholson, both of Crowley; three 
brothers, Anthony and Joseph Pizzolatto of Houma and Louis Pizzolatto of 
Houston; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Grado and Salvatore 
Pizzolatto; a daughter, Elizabeth Chauvin; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Belanger and 
Mrs. Virginia Alesi; and two brothers, Louis and Leo Pizzolatto.

Visitation will be today from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and on Thursday from 8 a.m. 
until funeral time at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma.

Interment will be in St. Francis de Sales No. 2 Cemetery in Houma.

Labadieville and resident of Thibodaux, who died Sunday at 12:27 p.m.

She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Burgess (Lucille) Clement, Mrs. Norman 
(Theresa) Diaz, Mrs. Joseph (Marian) Fertitta, Mrs. Terry (Patsy) Thibodeaux and 
Judy Boudreaux; three sons, Larry, Harold and Don Boudreaux; 27 grandchildren, 16 
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Gaudet and Mrs. Odel Alfonso of Gretna; 
two brothers, Leon LeBlanc of Westwego and Antoine LeBlanc of Napoleonville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Boudreaux Sr.; one son, Richard 
Boudreaux Jr.; one grandson; three sisters; and four brothers.

Visitation will be at Thibodaux Funeral Home today from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. 
and Tuesday from 8-9:30 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family 
has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the building fund of Christ 
the Redeemer Catholic Church in Thibodaux. Arrangements are by Thibodaux Funeral

Baton Rouge and Robert Toups of Shreveport; a stepson, Whaley Breaux of Luling; 13 
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wives, Ione Angelo Toups and Mildred Angelo Toups; 
a son, Felix H. Toups; father, Felix A. Toups; mother, Sarah Philomene 
Boudreaux Toups; two brothers, Harry and Stanley Toups; and four sisters, Lena 
Lindsey, Enola Boudreaux, Annie Gant and Dora Blanchard.

for Oliday "Mush" Joseph Rome, 74, a native of Vacherie and resident of Harvey 
for 56 years, who died Monday at 9:50 p.m.

He was the father of Laura Percle and Elenora Sylve and Harold, Claude and Jerald 
Rome; the brother of Mrs. Aristide Becnel, Mrs. Ellis Stein, Mrs. Numa Boudreaux, 
Mrs. Joseph Rome, and Rudolph Jr. and Elwood Rome. He is also survived by eight 
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beaulah Murry Rome; parents, Zulma Simon and 
Rudolph Rome Sr.; sisters, Mrs. Armance Hebert and Mrs. Joseph Lege; and brothers, 
Agney and Lawrence Rome.

Interment was at Westlawn Cemetery in Harvey. Donations to the American Cancer 
Society are preferred.

Former Congressman dies
Numa Montet

Numa Francois Montet, former U.S. representative, state senator, assistant 
district attorney and prominent Thibodaux attorney for more than 50 years, died 
Saturday at the age of 93 after a week-long bout with pneumonia.

Funeral services for Montet were set for 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Co-
Cathedral. Burial was to be at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Plattenville.

Montet's law and political career dates back to 1913 and spanned some of the 
most tumultuous days in Louisiana's political history, the heyday of Huey Long.

Montet began his career as an ally of Long and ran for his congressional seat on 
the Long ticket. But they later had a falling out when Long moved from the 
governor's mansion to the U.S. Senate in 1932.

Montet was born Sept. 19, 1892, in Assumption Parish. He attended Louisiana 
Normal College (now Northwestern State University) in Natchitoches and was 
graduated from Tulane Law School in 1913, in the same class as the late U.S. 
Sen. Allen J. Ellender of Houma.

His political career was launched shortly after he obtained his law degree when 
he was elected to the state Senate where he served from 1916-1920.

During those years, his law practice also flourished. He was said to have the 
largest civil and criminal law practice in the Thibodaux area by the late 1920s.

In 1929 he won a seat in Congress representing Louisiana's Third Congressional 
District. He was then a supporter of the state's controversial governor Huey 
Long. But Montet would later become a member of the anti-Long faction of a half-
dozen Louisiana congressmen who put their allegiance to Franklin Delano Roosevelt 
in writing, bucking Long's ambitions for the presidency.

His son Marcus Monet, said his father spoke little of his relationship with 
Long. ÒHe didn't really tell me much about it,Ó the younger Montet said. "In 
the last few months I was trying to edge him on because I really wanted to 
know."

He said one thing his father did tell him: "When he and Huey Long finally had 
it out, he physically chased Huey around the library at LSU.Ó

Montet was one of the political leaders present at the 1935 state Democratic 
caucus at the DeSoto Hotel in New Orleans at which loyalist Democrats attempted 
to pick a slate of State officers to oppose the Long ticket and support Roosevelt 
for re-election as president.

By, that time, Long had cooled on Roosevelt as the national leader of the 
Democratic party and had begun talking of running for president against him.

Marcus Montet said that leaders of the anti-Long coalition urged him to run for 
governor against Long's hand-picked candidate, but Montet declined.

Montet served in Congress until 1937. He returned to public life in the 1950s when 
he served as assistant district attorney for the 17th Judicial District, then 
encompassing both Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes.

He retired from his law practice in 1967. Upon his retirement he was honored by 
the Lafourche Bar Association for his many years of service to the profession.

In addition to his membership in the parish and state bar associations, Montet 
was a member of the E.D. White High School Cardinal Club and the Young Men's 
Benevolent Association of Thibodaux.

Marcus Montet said his father loved Thibodaux. "He had to go uptown all the 
time and make his rounds among all the public offices.  He maintained the 
routine until he was stricken with pneumonia during the past week.

U.S. Rep. Billy Tauzin of Thibodaux, who now holds the 3rd Congressional Seat once 
held by Montet, said he learned from Montet.

"I bought out his law library when I got Out of law school," he said.

Tauzin said the library contained information from Montet's tenure in Congress.

"He was a pretty tough fellow," Tauzin recalled, "at least the outward 
appearance, being tough and gruff. But when you got to know him, he was a 
pretty nice fellow. He made a pretty tough (assistant) district attorney."

"He was very gruff and straight-forward," Marcus Montet agreed. ÒYou always 
knew where he stood." Montet is survived-by two sons, N. Forrest Montet of 
Atlanta and Marcus Montet of Thibodaux and one daughter, Laura Lee Montet-
Mackie of New Orleans. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one 
great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wives Angelle Morvant Montet and Virginia 
Blakeman Montet; two daughters Edwina and Willa Mae Montet, one granddaughter 
and a great-granddaughter.

At his request, pall bearers were to be Clay Toups, Robert D. Morvant, Tommy 
Blanchard, Bobby Montet, Paul Lagraize and P. Michael Blakeman. Honorary pall 
bearers include retired Judge P. Davis Martinez, Benny Blakeman, Lester 
Soignet, Ruby Autin, Dewey Broussard, Ralph Clay and Leo Gros.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to the E.D. White Catholic 
High Endowment Fund in memory of Numa F. Montet.
