Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Genevieve 
Catholic Church in Thibodaux for Paul C. Benoit, 59, a native and resident 
of Thibodaux, who died Saturday at 6:15 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Maronge Benoit; one daughter, Paula 
Lassere; brothers, Larry, Johnny, Milton, Russel, Francis and William 
Benoit; sisters, Maggie Talbot and Hazel Benoit; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Victoria Melancon Benoit; and 
a brother, Joseph Benoit.

Visitation will be held from 5-10 tonight and from 8 a.m. until funeral time 
Tuesday at Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux. Burial will be at St. Joseph 
Cemetery. Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux is in charge of arrangements.

Ptole R. Bertrand

Funeral services were held today at Thibodaux Funeral Home for Ptole R. 
Bertrand, 74, a native of Labadieville and resident of Thibodaux, who died 
Saturday at 5 p.m.

She was the sister of Mrs. Chelsea (Lizzie) Hebert and Leslie (Nookie) Richard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tarlton Bertrand; three sisters; and 
five brothers.

Interment was scheduled at St. Philomena Cemetery in Labadeieville. 
Arrangements are by Thibodaux Funeral Home.

Religious services were to be held at 1 p.m. today from Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church in Cut Off for Larry Noah Cheramie, 45, a native of Golden Meadow and 
resident of Larose, who died Friday at 11:45 a.m. in Houma.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Plaisance Cheramie; his mother, Elda 
Gautreaux Cheramie Champagne; two sons, David and Michael Cheramie; two 
brothers, Jeffrey and Errol Cheramie; his grandmother, Ellia Bouzigard 
Cheramie; and one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norris Cheramie Jr.

Interment was scheduled in the church cemetery. Falgout Funeral Home in 
Galliano is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Benevolent 
Home, Lafitte, for Clemence ÒMs. SkinnyÓ Leoda Creppel, 76, a native of 
Lafourche Parish and a resident of Lafitte who died Sunday at 4:45 a.m.

Religious services are scheduled to follow the funeral at St. Anthony Catholic 
Church, with Interment in Flemming Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled to begin 
after 6 p.m. today.

She was the wife of the late Vincent "Skinny" Creppel; mother of 
Augustine Kennedy, Armadelle Celestine, Milton, Clarence, Leonce and 
Daniel Creppel, and the late Isaac and Abby Creppel; and sister of Mrs. 
Isaac Griffin, Gus and Elliot Billiot, and the late Etienne and Philomene 
Guidry Billiot.

She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two 
step-grandchildren.

for Olivia W. Frank, 73, a native and resident of Thibodaux who died Thursday.

Dismissal services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Lloyd 
Jones officiating.

She was the mother of Albertha Sanders, Jeanette Smith, Lillie Duncan, Carrie 
Joseph, Charmie and Patricia Reed, James and Calvin Frank; step-mother of 
Joseph and Edward Frank; and sister of Florence Ayrow.

She is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Frank; her parents, Carrie Van 
Buren and Adam Wallace; a daughter, Louise Fletcher; a brother, Walter Cooks; 
and two great-grandchildren.

Lockport for Edmond Jean Hebert, 75, a native and resident of Lockport, who died 
at Raceland on Saturday at 3:50 a.m.

He was the husband of Frances LeBlanc Hebert; the father of Mrs. Alvin 
(Louanna) Gaudet, Mrs. Leonard (Gordon Ann) Falgout III, Mrs. Richard 
(Camillia) Vessels, and Warren J. and Malcolm P. Hebert; and the brother of 
Mrs. Emile (Aline) Gaubert and Lawrence Hebert. He is also survived by 13 
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gaston and Eddie Hebert; one sister, 
Mrs. Emile (Alice) Adams, and parents Mr. and Mrs. Pierre Hebert.

Interment will be at the church cemetery. Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport is 
in charge of arrangements.

in Galliano for Perry Anthony Soudelier, 24, a native and resident of Larose,

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeremy Paul Soudelier.

native of Welch and resident of Galliano, who died in Raceland Tuesday at 10 
a.m.

He was the husband of Gertie Guidry; the stepfather of Hazel Danos and Loyman 
Danos; the brother of Stanford Benoit, Ella Mae Ouebedeaux and Elia B. 
Chaumont. He is also survived by seven step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Benoit; and sisters, Ivy 
Benoit and May Dora Comeaux.

Interment was to be in Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano. Falgout Funeral Home in

Church for John Draube, 81, a native of Westwego and resident of Raceland, who 
died Tuesday at 10 a.m.

He was the husband of Christine Kytle Draube; the father of Donna Elia 
Matteson; and the brother of Elaine Draube Hecker. He is also survived by two 
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Frank V. Draube. Interment

Orleans for Myrtle Block Heard, 82, a native and resident of New Orleans, who 
died Sunday at 7:50 a.m.

She was the sister of Ferd H. Block of Thibodaux.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Allen Heard.

Catholic Church in Golden Meadow for Rosalus J. Rebstock, 75, a native of Leeville 
and resident of Golden Meadow, who died in Galliano Monday at 10:05 p.m.

He was the husband of Florence Terrebonne Rebstock; the father of Donald Sr., 
Robert Sr. and Rosalus Rebstock Jr. and Brenda Esponge; the brother of Sidney 
and Edward Rebstock, Rosita R. Guilbeau, Louise R. Orgeron and Georgette R. 
Esponge. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, George Rebstock; and parents, Mr. and 
Mrs. Armand Rebstock.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Victorian Breaux; parents,

Breaux.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rosalie Catholic Church.

He was the husband of Rosemay Malbrough Taranto; the father of Daniel J. 
Taranto and Gaspar ÒHootÓ Taranto Jr.; and the brother of Philip, Joseph, John, 
Frank and Rose Taranto. He is also survived by six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Felix, Angelo, Phillip, Emile and Santo 
Taranto.

Fontenot died at 2:45 this morning.  Because his body has been donated to 
science, there will be no wake.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Fontenot; two daughters, Mrs. Irvin 
(Beverly) Fontenot of Thibodaux and Mrs. Fred (Joy) Rowland of Dallas, Texas; 
six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to E.D. White Foundation or St. Jude's 
Children's Hospital.

Religious services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. today from Wooddale Memorial 
Chapel in Baton Rouge for Nora C. Forbes, 82, a native of Raceland and 
resident of Baton Rouge, who died at 3 a.m. Thursday.

She is survived by two daughters, Anna Champagne of Chalmette and Joyce 
Lockhart of Denham Springs; five sons, Raymond Guidroz of Galliano, Gerald, 
Wayne and Roy Forbes, all of Baton Rouge, and Jack Forbes of Livingston; 
three sisters, Lillian Poche of Houma, and Annette Lecompte and Estelle 
Rhodes, both of Chalmette; a brother, Oliver Babin of Raceland; 44 
grandchildren; and 90 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony S. Forbes; and seven children.

Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge.

He was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge No. 472

Services set Tuesday for Marcello


John Marcello, 63, a former Lafourche Parish School Board supervisor and 
most recently director of the Grenier Sheltered Workshop, died Sunday night 
in New Orleans.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Co-
Cathedral with Interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled 
to begin at 6 p.m. today at the church.

Marcello, a life-long resident of Thibodaux, served the school board, in 
various positions for 33 years. He was an agriculture teacher at Thibodaux 
High School for 10 ? years. He was appointed principal of Thibodaux Lower 
Elementary School in 1958, supervisor of instruction for junior and senior 
high schools in 1974 and parish supervisor of elementary education and 
supervisor of textbooks in 1977.

He also served as parish director of career education and supervisor of 
librarians.

Marcello received his elementary education at Lafourche Elementary School 
and graduated from Thibodaux High School in 1940. He attended Louisiana 
State University for three and one-half years before entering the armed 
forces in 1943. Later Marcello returned to LSU and received a bachelor's 
degree in 1947, Marcello served 42 months of active duty during World War 
II, including 21 months overseas, and participated in three major battle 
campaigns in the Pacific theatre. He attained the position of company 
commander during the war, entered the Louisiana National Guard as a first 
lieutenant in 1947 and retired with the rank of colonel in 1973 after 
nearly 30 years of military service. He served as president of the 
Lafourche Parish Teachers' Association, the Lafourche Parish Elementary 
Principals' Association, the Louisiana 11th District Principals' 
Association, the St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish Council, the Krewe of 
Christopher Carnival Club, vice-president and treasurer of the Thibodaux 
Lions Club, state treasurer of the Louisiana State National Guard 
Association and lay distributor of the Holy Eucharist at St. Joseph's.

He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, National 
Guard Association, various professional groups, and the Alpha Tau Alpha and 
Alpha Zeta honorary professional fraternities. He also served on numerous 
community projects.

Marcello was the father of Mrs. Marc (Gaynell) Boudreaux, Mrs. Steve (Jane) 
Bernard, Robert John and Donald H. Marcello, all of Thibodaux; son of the 
late Blanche Rizzo and Joseph Marcello; and brother of Sam Marcello of 
Lockport, Dr. B.A. Marcello and Dr. C.J. Marcello of Thibodaux; Mrs. Clem 
(Mary) Raynal and Mrs. John (Bessie Rita) McIntire of Thibodaux.
