He was preceded in death by his parents, Ullse and Lea Trosclair Benoit; brothers, Wallace and Walter Benoit; and a sister, Valerie Knight. ============================ November 15, 1987 112-year old Thibodaux man dies By Sara Diamond Staff writer Louis Robertson Clean living, positive thinking and hard work were what helped Thibodaux resident Louis Robertson to live to be 112 years old, according to one of his 112 grandchildren. Robertson died Sunday after having lived through the events most of us have only read about in history books. He was born Sept. 28, 1876 on Magnolia Plantation in Terrebonne Parish during the end of the Civil War Reconstruction era. As a young boy he lived and worked on the plantation along with his parents, ten brothers and three sisters. His sister, Ms. Lavinia Blackledge is his only surviving sibling. Robertson also worked on other plantations in Lafourche Parish, plowing, setting and cutting the sugar cane. He said in a 1986 magazine article the job he enjoyed the most was being a "bolster," the person who loaded the sugar cane into wagons or cars of the plantation railroad. He retired from plantation work in the early 1940s to his own house and garden plot in the Johnson Ridge area of Schriever. He lived there until 1974 when he moved to Thibodaux to live with his daughter, Ceola Fletcher Robertson returned to Johnson Ridge often to attend services at Morning Star Baptist Church where he had been a member since 1916 He also served with the deacons in the church until the time of his death Robertson's granddaughter Shuhuada Ra-oof said her grandfather was a beautiful, kind man "His motto was, If you can't be yourself and do it right don't do anything at all." she said. Twice widowed, Robertson was the father of nine children. He is survived by his sister, Lavinia Blackledge; his daughter, Ceola Kletcher and his daughter in- law, Christine Robertson. He is also survived by approximately 112 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren and 73 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a great number of other relatives and friends. Wake services will be held Friday night at 8 p.m. at the Morning Star Baptist Church on Johnson Ridge. The funeral service will also be at the church at noon on Saturday. He was survived by his mother, Annette Cedotal Borne; sister. Aline St. Pierre and three brothers, Norman, Leonard and Herman Borne. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard A. Borne. She was the mother of Janice Boudreaux of Baton Rouge and the grandmother of Georgina Furriate and Linette Boudreaux, both of Baton Rouge. Interment is in the church cemetery. He was the husband of Mercy Cortez Kraemer; and the father of Nellie Matherne, Dorothy Adams, Noreen Trosclair, Penny Naquin, Jules Sr. and Clayton Kraemer. He was also survived by his brothers, Oliver Willie and Clarence Kraemer; sisters, Cornelia Martinez, Philomene Kraemer, Clarice Usea, Clara Louise Kraemer, Eleanor Porche, Celena Martinez, Lucy Mae Mahler, Velma Cortez and Rita Cortez; and 12 grandchildren. Interment is in the church cemetery. She was the mother of one son, Loven Adams and three daughters, Shirley Bourgeois, Elnora Eve Adams and Elvira Plaisance. She is also survived by one sister, Ava Fonseca; 14 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren and 30 great- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Davis Adams and by her second husband. Augustin Rodrigue.
