of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow for Lovenia Serigny Griffin, 
71, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, who died at 2:20 p.m. Saturday, 
Jan. 1.

Visitation will be 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at 
Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was the mother of William and Elam Griffin, Dorothy Duet, Daisy Laudun, 
Rosie Allemand, Doris Gisclair, Alice Bourgeois, Ann Rae Mejia and Callarena 
Melancon; sister of Eunice and Lougas Serigny, Unita Danos, Melza Borne, Lorena 
Singleton and Amay Blanchard.  She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 
four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Griffin; parents, Levy and 
Julia Crosby Serginy; and three brothers, Levy, Joseph and Oliver Serigny.

Catholic Church in Chauvin for Louise Picou Lapeyrouse, 79, a native and 
resident of Chauvin, who died at 8:20 p.m. Saturday, Jan 1.

Visitation will be 3 to 10 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at the 
Knights of Columbus Hall in Chauvin.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was the wife of Leo W. Lapeyrouse of Chauvin; mother of Stephen Lapeyrouse 
of Houma, Mark Lapeyrouse and Claudette Lirette, both of Chauvin; Linda Vega of 
Cut Off and June Trosclair of Larose; sister of Frank Picou and Loretta 
Champagne, both of Chauvin, and Alice Usie of Pointe-aux-Chenes.  She is also 
survived by 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and two step-great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Melizia Henry Picou; a 
son, Leland Lapeyrouse; a brother, Clarence Picou; a sister, Stella Picou; and 
a grandson Bryan Trosclair.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters Court Pere Denece, St. Joseph Ladies 
Altar Society and Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W.

She was the mother of Joyce Hymel Gettys.  She is also survived by six

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wallace J. Hymel; second 
husband, Whitmal J. Arcement; and parents, Thomas C. and Justin Cancienne

She was the mother of Patrick E. Berniard and Judith B. Landry; sister of Emile 
and James Rasch, Mabel Bourque and Tillie Bonvillian.  She is also survived by 
six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford J. Berniard; parents, 
Walther Hypolite and Emetile LaBauve Rasch; two brothers, Blume J. and Walter 
P. Rasch; and four sisters, Marie Pearl R. House, Elizabeth Bertha R. Young, 
Mae Rasch and Stella R. Cormier.

Tharp in New Orleans for Clifford "Lap" Shelly, a resident of New Orleans, who 
died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3.

Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery.

He was the husband of Anita Pearly Shelly; father of Diane Shelly-Douglas, 
Richard Halls, Donald Ceaser Sr. and Jaqueline Shelly; brother of Ulysses 
Williams, Elvira Milton, Yvonne Harris and Annie Johnson.  He is also survived 
by 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Shelly and Naomi W. Hill; a 
son, Wayne Shelly; and three brothers, Lee Jarvis, James, Silas Jr. and Leroy 
Hill.

He was a veteran of World War II.

She is also survived by 41 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, 23 great-
great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Nofare Dumas; parents, Victor Jessie 
and Mathilda James; three sons, Landry, O'Neal and Duffy Dumas; three brothers, 
Bernard, Wilson and Heedly James; and two sisters, Emily and Victoria James.

He was the father of Jesse Falgout of Lockport, Peter Mitch Danos of 
Vermillion, Ohio and Lori Danos of Raceland; brother of Clayton, Clifton "C.J." 
and Eddie Falgout, all of New Orleans, Armand Falgout Sr. of Gheens, Ethel F. 
Adams of Raceland and Viola F. Bordlee and Ernestine F. Adams, both of New 
Orleans.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Falgout and Selma M. Falgout 
Matherne, and two daughters, Martha and Bonnie Falgout.

He was a former resident of Raceland.

Victor McElroy Jr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at Chauvin 
Funeral Home Chapel in Houma for Victor "V.J." Joseph McElroy Jr., 69, a native 
of Dulac and resident of Houma, who died Sunday, Jan. 30.

Visitation will be until funeral time today at the funeral home.  Burial will 
be in St. Francis de Sales No. 2 Cemetery.

He was the husband of Lillie Rodrigue Daigle McElroy; father of Juanita and 
Victor Joseph McElroy III, Mary Crochet and Gloria Aycock, all of Houma, and 
Ophelia "BooBoo" Gallo of Metairie; step-father of Sam, Kenneth and Ronald 
Daigle, all of Houma, and Dana Jo Daigle Fowler of Homer; brother of Earl Sr. 
and Felix McElroy Sr., both of Houma, and Odit Gautreaux of Raceland.  He is 
also survived by six grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and five step-great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Faye Hernandez McElroy; 
parents, Victor Joseph and Ophelia Bonvillian McElroy Sr.; a brother, Carson 
McElroy Sr.; and a sister Ruby LeBoeuf.

He was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church and a member of V.F.W. 
Post 3700 and Woodman of the World Lodge 1172.  He was a retired Salesman for 
Colburn and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary's 
Nativity Church in Raceland for Jules J. Berthelot Jr., 18, a native of Algiers 
and resident of Raceland, who died Monday, Jan. 31.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was the son of Diana Waguespack Foret; stepson of Hypolite "Skippy" Foret; 
grandson of Dorothy Arbo and Clarence Waguespack; brother of Kristina Dufrene 
and Charlotte Berthelot.

He was preceded in death by a half sister, Carolyn Waguespack.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mothe 
Funeral Home Chapel in Harvey for Lena Toups Rau, 86, a native of Lafourche 
Parish and resident of Gretna, who died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31.

Burial was in Westlawn Memorial Park.

She was the mother of Blasˇ C. Rau of Chicago and Wayne A. Rau of Gretna; 
stepmother of George A., Fred D. and Charles C. Rau and Minta Rau Bush, all of 
Gretna; sister of Dave "DD", Carl, Donald and Blaise Toups, S.C., Yvonne Uzee, 
Evelyn Comeaux and Lucille Rhodes.  She is also survived by numerous 
grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Rau; parents, Sylvester and 
Emelie Thibodaux Toups; and a sister, Lynn Toups.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Tuesday at St. John the 
Evangelist Catholic Church in Thibodaux for Jeanne Ann Soignet Trosclair, 94, a 
native and resident of Thibodaux, who died at 1 a.m. today, Jan. 31.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at the church.  Burial will 
be in the church cemetery.

She was the mother of Carl Trosclair, Myrtle T. St. Marie, Shirley T. Baye and 
Betty T. Prejean; sister of Elmo A. Soignet, Bessie Webre and Nora Gaudet.  She 
is also survived by 38 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and seven great-
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Trosclair; parents, Rudolph 
and Julia Bernard Soignet; a daughter, Theresa T. Fonseca; four sons, Irion, 
Cecil, Ray and Larry Trosclair; two sisters, Nettie Marie Richard and Winnie 
Gaudet; and three grandchildren.

Community Bible Church in Cut Off for Wilton Edmond "Sonny" Vaughan Sr., 62, a 
native of Cameron and resident of Cut Off, who died Monday, Jan 31.

Burial will be in Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.

He was the son of Alice Choat Vaughan; father of Wilton Jr. and Rickey Vaughan 
Sr. and Debbie Vaughan Danos; brother of Harvey Vaughan and Adrien Dosher.  He 
is also survived by four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorita Boudreaux Vaughan; father, Wallace 
Vaughan; two sons, Kelly and Kent Vaughan; and a sister, Anna Mae Bouffanie.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
