A private funeral is scheduled for Wilbur Paul Babin, 58, a native of Raceland 
and resident of Vidor, Texas, who died at 1:54 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.

He was the husband of Annie Laura Babin; father of Rhonda Babin LeBoeuf of 
Bourg; stepfather of John and Jerry Bishop; brother of Morris Babin of 
Chalmette and Irvin Babin of Raceland. He is also survived by eight 
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Yolanda "Pat" Babin; parents, Annie 
and Felicien Babin; and a sister, Ethel Danos.

He was a retired crane operator.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Charles 
Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles community for Marie LeBlanc Landry, 
100, a native of Mathews and resident of Raceland, who died at 2 a.m. Saturday, 
Oct. 1.

Burial was in St. Anne Cemetery in Napoleonville.

She was the mother of Ulysees George and Robert Joseph Landry, Jeanne Ball and 
Elizabeth Arabie. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great-
grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysees Gardner Landry; parents, 
Edgar and Josephine Gaudet LeBlanc; three brothers; and six sisters.

He was the fiancˇ of Robin Chatagnier; son of Allen and Judy Gros; brother of 
Chance and Autumn Gros, Jean Hebert and Marti DeRoche; grandson of Chester and

He was preceded in death by his natural mother, Gilda Wilcox Gros; two

grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Terrebonne Savoie; parents, Odon 
and Josephine Orgeron Savoie; and a brother, Tillman Savoie.

He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and a U.S. Army veteran 
of World War II.

Joseph A. Harrison Sr., died of cancer Thursday (Oct 13) at Assumption General 
Hospital.

Harrison, 70, was a native of Philadelphia, Pa. Harrison grew up in the 
Philadelphia area and began to raise his family there.

While in Philadelphia, Harrison also served as vice president of operations for 
National Sugar Refinery. Harrison's job brought him and his family to 
Assumption Parish about 30 years ago.

Harrison served on the Assumption Police Jury, Assumption Hospital Board, 
Assumption Water District, and was a supporter of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Eugene Godfrey Gouaux, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday (Oct 18) after a battle with 
cancer that lasted several years.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Savior 
Catholic Church in Lockport. Visitation will be at the church from 8 a.m. until 
funeral time. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.

Gouaux was the husband of Catherine Harang Gouaux the father of Eugene "Bubba," 
and James W. Gouaux, Catherine G. Duplantis, Patricia G. Simpson and Frances G. 
Comeaux, and the brother of Louis P. and Milton J. Gouaux and Marie Louise 
Harang.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Francois T. Gouaux and Louise 
Mathilde Robichaux Gouaux; and brother, Dr. Frank T. Gouaux Jr.

Gouaux served as a member of the state Legislature from 1956-60, on the Board 
of Trustees for Colleges and Universities, the state Coordinating Council for 
Higher Education, and a variety of civic organizations.

Gouaux served as an ensign in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard ships in 
the Pacific and took part in the battle of Okinawa.

He graduated from Loyola University Law School in 1949.
