A Mass of Christian burial and memorial service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. 
today at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands for Tonya Dempster, 71, 
a native of Bloomington, Ind., and resident of Des Allemands, who died at 1:55 
a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1.

She was the mother of Hubert Zeller Jr. of Thibodaux; stepmother of Ronnie 
Dowouis of Des Allemands. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and four 
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Dempster; second husband, 
Hubert Zeller Sr.; parents, Jack and Grace O'Riley Johnston; and a daughter, 
Virginia Folse.

A funeral is scheduled for 8 p.m. today at St. Peter Baptist Church in 
Thibodaux for Mabel Jefferson Brown, 72, who died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb.2 
at Thibodaux Hospital and Health Centers.

Dismissal will be 10 a.m. Friday, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was the mother of Willie Charles Neal, Patricia, Joyce, Noel, Joel, 
Joseph, Mabel Lee and Brian Brown, all of Thibodaux, and Sandra Brown of 
Phoenix, Ariz.; sister of Myrtle Jefferson Cooks. She is also survived by 15 
grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Janie Williams 
Jefferson.

Nativity Church in Raceland for Mona Breaux Percle, 54, a native of Thibodaux 
and resident of Raceland, who died at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was the wife of Philip Percle Sr.; daughter of Leo Breaux Sr.; mother of, 
Philip Jr., Kenneth, Gregory, Cynthia and Jennifer Percle; sister of Leo Jr., 
Gary and Wayne Breaux. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Solange Ordoyne Breaux: and two 
brothers, Robert and Randy Breaux.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at. Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church in Cut Off for Allen Joseph Pitre Jr., 61, a native of Larose 
and resident of Cut Off, who died at 9:25 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was the husband of Dolores Adams Pitre; father of Ricky and Rodney Pitre 
and Gail Galliano; brother of Clifton, Harold and Gerald Pitre. He is also 
survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Joseph Sr. and Lucille Edna 
Guillot Pitre.

He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary Catholic 
Church in Lafayette for Claire Naquin Bourg, 51, a native of Thibodaux and 
resident of Lafayette, who died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 at Southwest Medical 
Center in Lafayette.

Burial was in Fountain Memorial Gardens.

The Rev. James W. Doiron vicar, conducted the services.

She was the mother of Gretchen B. Millus of North Carolina, Stefanie B. 
Andrepont of Mississippi and M. Scott Bourg Jr. of Lafayette; sister of Cathy 
Landry and Mrs. Patrick "Coonie" Richard. She is also survived by two 
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Martin S. Bourg, Ph.D; a brother, 
Charles O. Naquin Jr.; and her parents, Charles O. and Helen Hoffman Naquin.

She was a faculty member of Cathedral Carmel School and a member of the St. Mary 
Catholic Community.

Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Newnan, Ga.

She was the daughter of William and Brenda DeRoche Zeringue Sr.; granddaughter of 
Doris Zeringue and Mr. and Mrs. Rufus DeRoche; sister of Keith, Wade, Britt, Blake 
and Wendy Zeringue.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Simon "Slim" Zeringue.

who died at 11:55 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 5 of pancreatic cancer.

She was the wife of Oscar P. "Bud" Goldate; former wife of Weymon D Russell;

Texas; sister of Ida Buford Blackburn. She is also survived by six grandchildren 
and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Everette and Eileen Zerline 
Bufor.

She was a retired administrative secretary for the Department of Microbiology, 
Immunology and Parasitology and coordinator of LSU School of Medicine 
International Center for Medical Research and Training in San Jose, Costa Rica.

She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church of Katy, Texas, and Dove Park 
Church in Covington.

Thibodaux leader dies of cancer

Albert "Johnny" Ledet, 67, died Monday after a 10-month battle with lung cancer.

Ledet a native and resident of Thibodaux served his community in a variety of 
ways. For 36 years he was in charge of maintenance .at St. Joseph and later 
Thibodaux General Hospital. He also held the jobs of assistant fire chief and 
interim city councilman.

"That was my buddy," said W.J. "Doodie" Bernard, a former fire chief and friend 
of Ledet's.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at St, Genevieve Catholic 
Church in Thibodaux. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until Funeral time Wednesday at 
the church.  Burial is in St. Joseph Cemetery.

"He was one helluva guy," Bernard said. "When we went to a fire, we looked out 
for each other. That's how close we were."

Ledet, who like Bernard was a member of Protector Fire Co. No. 2 in Thibodaux, 
served as an assistant chief under Bernard in the early 1970s.

"When anybody thought of Johnny, they thought of the hospital and the fire 
department." said Joel Champagne, former Thibodaux General Administrator who 
went to high school with Ledet.

No one knew either St. Joseph or Thibodaux General better than Ledet, Champagne 
said.

"He wasn't a trained engineer but that man knew the physical plant better than 
anyone," Champagne said. "He was always able to work well with architects and 
those kinds of people. When we wanted to change things around, we always 
consulted him.

"He was an invaluable asset. Off the job he had a high profile in the 
community."

Ledet served in the Navy in World War II. He started work at St. Joseph Hospital 
in 1953 and retired in 1989.

In 1985, he was named an interim member of the Thibodaux City Council, replacing 
Carroll Thibodeaux, who resigned. He stayed on the council for a year, until 
Alton "Checkerboard" Roundtree was elected to replace him.

Bernard said Ledet had knack for getting involved. He also had a "naughty" 
streak.

"He'd start an argument with the Protectors and walk away. Everybody'd be 
arguing and there'd be no Johnny Ledet," Bernard said.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Mire Ledet; sons, John, James, Al and Steve 
Ledet; daughters, Joan Rivault, Jan Leger and Maria Ledet; brothers, Ellis, 
M.O. and Lionel Ledet; sister, Elizabeth Portier; and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert J. and Lucille Babin Ledet; 
brothers, Emile, Vital, Claude and Rene Ledet; and sister, Lucy Gros.

Donations to the American Cancer Society are preferred.

A Funeral is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday at Morning Star Baptist Church for 
Charlotte Jackson, 84, a native of Schriever and resident of Johnson Ridge, who 
died Monday, Feb. 6.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Burial will be in Blue Lilly Cemetery.

She was the wife of Clarence Jackson of Schriever; mother of Calvin and Larry 
Jackson, both of Thibodaux, Betty Keller, Clara Joseph and Geraldine Jackson, 
all of Schriever. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 36 great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara and Calvin Harris Sr.; two 
sons, Floyd and Morris Jackson; and a brother, Calvin Harris Jr.

She was a retired cook with the Lafourche Parish School Board and a member of 
Morning Star Baptist Church.

He was a retired secretary for South Coast Sugars and did volunteer work for South 
Louisiana Medical Center. She was a parishioner of Holy Rosary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Armond and Vella Trosclair Danos; and a

Oliver Robichaux, former publisher of the Lafourche Comet, died Sunday at 
Thibodaux General Hospital.

Robichaux was a long time native of Thibodaux, and celebrated his 100 birthday 
on Aug. 14.

In an earlier interview Robichaux said, "I ask the Lord to let me live until I 
straightened out my checkbook, but I never could. So I guess he forgot, because 
I never told him to stop."

He also said he had nothing but fond memories of his family and his childhood.

His father, Joesph A. Robichaux was a local contractor, who married Marie 
Latour, also from Thibodaux. Together the couple had six children.

Robichaux is survived by two of his sisters, Eloise Robichaux Hebert, who lives 
in Baton Rouge, and Catherine "Kitty" Robichaux Hoffman, of Thibodaux.

"I remember when we were coming up, he was always a nice and sincere person, 
always willing to help," Hoffman said.

Robichaux is preceded in death by his wife Mabel Taylor Robichaux, his parents, 
one brother, Francis J. Robichaux, and two sisters May Landry, and Lucille 
Riviere.

Robichaux attended two private schools for elementary education then attended 
the Guion Academy on Jackson Street.

After two years at Thibodaux College, he joined his older brother at Jefferson 
College in Convent, which is now called Manresa House of Retreats. While there 
Robichaux studied bookkeeping.

Shortly after he finished his education, World War I came along. Though he 
didn't serve in the war, Robichaux was asked to work for the State and Navy 
departments in Washington, D.C. His job was encoding and decoding messages to 
and from Europe.

Robichaux went on to work for Oliver Robichaux the government in Chicago until 
he decided to return to Thibodaux.

Robichaux returned home and renewed his relationship with his high school 
sweetheart, Taylor. The couple was married in 1922.

In 1923 Robichaux and his wife purchased the Lafourche Comet, from Taylor's 
father, John B. Taylor.

The couple ran the paper for 41 years and in 1964 sold the paper to Ed Jackson 
and Joe Silverberg.

In 1988 Robichaux's wife died, the couple enjoyed over 65 years of marriage.

Funeral arrangements and visitations times are still pending. Landry's Funeral

Nolan Cantrelle

A Funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home 
Chapel in Houma for Nolan Joseph Cantrelle, 70, a native of Houma and resident 
of Larose who died at 2:10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26.

Burial will be in Grace Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Coteau Road in Houma.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to midnight today and from 8 a.m. to Funeral time 
Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home, Houma.

He was the husband of Delia Perrin Cantrelle; father of Roland Anthony 
Cantrelle, Glenn Charles Cantrelle and Beverly Brunet; brother of Irving 
Cantrelle and Alma Danos and Lorraina Gullie. He is also survived by nine 
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hermogene and Arthemis Callahan 
Cantrelle; one son, Nolan Cantrelle Jr.; one brother Hermogene Cantrelle Jr.; 
three sisters Loredia Wisman, Nita LePine and Agusta Fabre and one grandchild.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux for Oliver C. "Rube" Robichaux, 100, a native and 
resident of Thibodaux, who died Sunday. Feb. 26.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to Funeral time Thursday at the church.

Burial will be in the church Cemetery.

He was the brother of Heloise R. Hebert of Baton Rouge and Katherine R. Hoffman 
of Thibodaux.

He was preceded in death by is wife, Mabel Taylor Robichaux; parents, Joseph A. 
and Marie Latour Robichaux; a brother, Francis J. Robichaux: and two sisters, 
May Landry and Lucille Riviere.

He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1114, lifetime 
member of the Louisiana State Firemen Association and lifetime member of 
Protector Fire Co. No. 2.

Herman Toups

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 6 p.m. today at St. John the 
Baptist Catholic Church in Paradis for Herman J. Toups, 68, a native of 
Thibodaux and resident of Paradis, who died at 12:25 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26.

Visitation will be 5 to 10 p.m. today at 8 a.m. to dismissal at 10 a.m. Tuesday 
at the Church.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.

He was the husband of Alvina Boudreaux Toups; father of Jerry Robert Toups, Gale 
T. Roux, Glenda T. Rapp and Christine T. DeJean; half brother of Oscar Prejean. 
He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Justin and Onezia Boudreaux Toups; and a 
half sister, Felicia Bickmann.

He was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War 
II. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 445 F&AM of St. Charles.

Roland Duncan

A Funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Williams and Southall Funeral Home 
in Thibodaux for Roland Duncan, 59, a native and resident of Thibodaux, who died 
Monday, Feb. 27.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to Funeral time Saturday.

Burial will be in Young Men Benevolent Cemetery at Lafourche Crossing.

He was the father of Lisa, Barbara, Ann, Michael and Roland Price, all of 
Thibodaux, Sharita, Elaine, Gail, Henry and Craig Duncan and Debra Cain, all of 
New Orleans, Joyce Coleman of Houma and Perry Duncan of California; brother of 
Gertrude Ross, of Houma, David Jr., Herman, John, Lloyd, Ernest and Norman Duncan 
Sr., all of Thibodaux. He is also survived by 41 grandchildren and 34 great-
grandchildren.

Duncan was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Bell Duncan; parents, Lillie and 
Dave Duncan Sr.; and a son Roland Duncan Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Prompt 
Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow for Sidonia C. Pitre, 90, a native of Golden 
Meadow and resident of Cut Off, who died at 10:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27.

Burial will be in Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.

Visitation will be from 3 to 11 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until Funeral time 
Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home, Galliano.

She was the mother of Benton and Leo Paul Pitre and Delphine P. Terrebonne; sister 
of Morris Cheramie. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 19 great-
grandchildren, five step grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two husbands Rhenhart Vizier (first marriage) and 
Nocess Pitre; her parents, Olucien and Veronica Pitre Cheramie; one son, Nolty 
Vizier; one step daughter, Laura Pitre; brothers Alex, Levy, Oris, Alcess and 
Benton Cheramie; sisters Liska C. Callais, Angelle C. Gaspard, and Julia C. 
Williams.

Charles Adams Sr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the 
Evangelist Catholic Church in Thibodaux for Charles Joseph Adams Sr., 86, a native 
and resident of Thibodaux, who died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Visitation will be 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at Thibodaux Funeral Home and 8 a.m. to 
Funeral time Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in the church Cemetery.

He was the husband of Rita Adams; father of Rita Martin and Shirley Andras and 
Joseph, Charles Jr. and Gerald Adams; brother of Wilson Adams and Elise LeRay. He 
is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Alcindor Adams and Angela Guillot 
Adams; five brothers, Cletus, Clafe, Henry, Evariste and O'Niel Adams; and a 
sister, Louise Adams.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Co-
Cathedral in Thibodaux for Carroll D. "CD" Goulas, 85, a native of Morgan City and 
resident of Thibodaux, who died at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. today at Landry's Funeral Home and 8 to 10 a.m. 
Friday at the church.

Burial will be in the church Cemetery.

He was the husband of Enola Ponvelle Goulas; father of Carroll Jr., Thomas, 
Ronald, Danny and Robyn Goulas, Phyllis G. "FiFi" Toups, Donna G. Ayo and Debra G. 
Fournet; brother of Elmo Goulas. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 
five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Noemie Boutte Goulas; three 
brothers, Robert, Charles and Horace Goulas; and two sisters, Maude G. Ayo and 
Inez Dantin.
