A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Anne 
Church in Napoleonville for Alice Talbot Blanchard, 90, a native of 
Napoleonville and resident of Paradis, who died at 10:13 p.m. Monday. May 1.

Visitation will be 6 to 10 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at 
Landry's Funeral Home in Napoleonville.

Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Napoleonville.

She was the mother of Earl Blanchard Jr., Ondine Landry, Theresa Saltzman and 
Lucille Colligan; sister of Edward Talbot. She is also survived by 20 
grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Blanchard Sr.; parents, Willie 
and Ondine T. Talbot; seven brothers, Lee, Junius, Caddy, Ivy, Willie Jr., 
Lawrence and Felix Talbot; and a sister, Louise Boudreaux.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Hilary 
Catholic Church in Mathews for Michael "Mikey" Adams Jr., 17, a native and 
resident of Raceland, who died at 5:43 p.m. Tuesday, May 2.

Visitation will be 5 to 11 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at 
Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport.

Interment will be in Resurrection Memorial Mausoleum in Mathews.

He was the fiance of Jessica Plaisance; son of Michael Adams Sr. and Susan Rome 
Adams; grandson of Bessie Guillot; brother of Angela Adams Hendrix.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilbert Guillot and Fortunia and 
Ida Rose Adams

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. 
Genevieve Catholic Church for Wilbert Joseph Babin Sr., 62, a native and 
resident of Thibodaux, who died Wednesday, May 3.

Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery.

He was the husband of Marie Baradell Babin; son of Edna Gaubert Babin; father 
of Wilbert Jr. and Wayne Babin, Gail Hebert, Penny Oubre, Joanna Zeringue and 
Lisa Daigle. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Onezime "Jim" Babin; and a sister, 
Theresa Neal.

A funeral is scheduled for 8 p.m. Sunday at Bright Morning Star Baptist Church 
in Napoleonville for Rosa Bell, 84, a native of Napoleonville and resident of 
Thibodaux, who died at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, at Assumption General 
Hospital.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to funeral time Sunday at the church.

Dismissal will be 10 a.m. Monday, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was the mother of Betty Heims and Rose Jupiter, both of Napoleonville, 
Frances McGruder, Ida Mae Mosses and Jessie Henderson, all of Avondale, Loretta 
Sandford and Roy Bell, both of Kenner, Carolyn Sam of Larose, Glory and Larry 
Bell and Cora Jupiter, all of Thibodaux, and Malcolm Bell of Labadieville. She 
is also survived by 57 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bell Sr.

Catholic Church in Luling for Lionel "Boney" Joseph Bourg, 75, a native of 
Donaldsonville and resident of Lulling, who died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to funeral time Friday at the church.

Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft.

He was the husband of Florestine Gassen Bourg; father of Lionel G. Bourg Sr.; 
brother of Fremin Bourg, Hazel Mouton and Marjorie "Peggy" Hebert. He is also 
survived by three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anatole and Emily Fremin Bourg; two 
brothers, Andrew "Dew" and Richard "Reco" Bourg; and three sisters, May Lemoine, 
Hilda LeBlanc and Isabell "Bella" Hymel.

He was a parishioner of Holy Family and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World 
War II.

Succor Catholic Church in White Castle for Geraldine Walker Landry, 74, a native 
and resident of White Castle, who died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 3.

Interment was in the White Castle Mausoleum.

She was the wife of Hermand Landry of White Castle; daughter of Hilda Walker of 
Donaldsonville; mother of Barry C. Landry of Thibodaux, Beth Mouton of Gulf 
Breeze, Fla., and Kitty Kessler of White Castle; sister of Jack Walker of Monroe 
and Emma Mae Montero and Winifred Landry both of White Castle. She is also 
survived by five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles A. Landry; and a 
brother, Welmer "Pinky" Walker.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor and a retired beautician.

Franklington for Edith Borne Lepine, 62, a native of Golden Meadow and resident 
of Cut Off and the Thomas Community, who died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, at 
her residence in Cut Off.

Burial will be in the Lepine Family Cemetery in the Thomas Community.

She was the wife of Roy J. Lepine Sr. of Thomas Community; mother of Roy J. Jr., 
Roy Anthony and Jackie Ann Lepine, all of Cut Off, and Tammy L. Serigny of 
Golden Meadow; sister of Johnson Borne of Westwego, Dempsey and Tizena Borne, 
both of Golden Meadow, and Marylee Billiot of Thomas Community. She is also 
survived by seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Notilia, Borne; and two 
brothers, Autrey and Onnazip Borne.

Catholic Church in Cut Off for Ida Mae Badeaux Savoie, 71, a native of Larose and 
resident of Cut Off, who died at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 4.

Burial was in the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Larose.

She was the wife of Edmond Savoie; mother of Wanda S. Reed; sister of Roland 
Badeaux, Nolena Detillier, Velma Orgeron, Edith Melancon and Elise Bellanger. She 
is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alcibiade and Dorcina Badeaux; two 
brothers, Clarence and Hayes Badeaux; and four sisters, Annie Richard, Lelia 
Galliano and Helen and Celica LeBlanc.

Willie Williams Jr.

A funeral took place at 11 a.m. today at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Raceland for 
Willie Williams Jr., 67, a native of New Orleans and resident of Raceland, who 
died at 10:20 a.m. Thursday, May 4.

Burial was in the Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery in Raceland.

The Rev. Celestine officiated.

He was the husband of Celestine Williams of Raceland; father of Earnestine, Willie 
III and Willie Edward Williams and Haddie Davis, all of Raceland, Edward Williams 
of New Orleans, Eddie, Earnest and Carter Williams and Dora Johnson, all of Houma, 
and Fanie May Williams; brother of Lillie Williams and Fannie Davis of Raceland. 
He is also survived by 49 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Sr. and Rosie Williams; a daughter, 
Rosie Ann Williams; and three sisters, Loretta Washington, Dora Gray and Delorise 
Williams.

He was a member of Mt. Zion and a veteran of the Korean War. He was an employee of 
Main Iron Work Shipyard.

He was the husband of Pearl Ockman Bourgeois; father of Gary, Keith, Mark, Glen 
Sr. and Timothy Bourgeois, Jo Ann Hinckley, Marilyn Hymel and Susan Zeringue. He is 
also survived by 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oleus and Emilie Dufrene Bourgeois; seven 
brothers, Eugene, Euzebe, Emile, Morris, Evest, Cleveland and Wilson Bourgeois; a 
sister, Odelia Rogers Verdin; and a granddaughter.

She was the sister of Oceana G. Galliano.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmelite Chouest and Leonce Guidry; 
three brothers, John L., Forest and Louis A. Guidry Sr.; and a sister, Ezola G. 
Blanchard.

She was a parishioner of St. Joseph and a member of the Ladies Altar Society.

Catholic Church in Houma for Keith Terrance Henry, 38, a native and resident of 
Houma, who died at 8:45 p.m. Friday, May 5, of cancer after a lengthy illness.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was the husband of Julie Ann Domangue of Houma; son of Aaron Jean and Nelwyn 
"Nell" Stoufflet Henry of Chauvin; father of Lacey Henry of Houma; brother of Joey 
Henry of Chauvin.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, David and Vallie Dubois Stoufflet 
and Adam and Evelina Pinell Henry Sr.; and a brother, Denny Henry.

He was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata and an assistant coach in baseball, 
softball and basketball with Terrebonne Parish Recreation. He was also an 
assistant coach with the Bayou Soccer Association.

He was a computer programmer for Veeder Root Inc.

stepfather of Santa Moore; brother of Eldora Farlow and Oliska Hester. He is also 
survived by six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Olivia Polk Hester; two 
sisters, Mabel Hester and Hattie Hester Anderson; and two brothers, Samuel and 
Hudson Hester.

He was the husband Persephone Holmes; father of Ernest Holmes of Iowa, Clarence

of Thibodaux, Victoria Brooks of Nashville, Tenn., and Rose Marie Holmes of 
Mississippi; brother of Alice Holmes of Thibodaux and Clara Holmes of New Orleans. 
He is also survived by 38 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Corine Holmes; a son, 
Johnny Holmes Sr.; a daughter, Augustine Holmes; and two brothers, Joseph Jr. and

She was also a resident of Thibodaux for 20 years.

Rouge; brother of Richard, Raymond, Norman, Charles and Patrick Boudreaux, all of

Thibodaux and Delores B. Capello of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by 21 
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agney and Louise Talbot Boudreaux; a son, 
Robert J. Boudreaux; and a sister, Doris B. Hebert.

He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1099; the E.D. White Assembly, 
Thibodaux; a charter member of Monsignor Landsmann 4th Degree Knights of 
Columbus, Napoleonville; member of American Legion Oncale Solar Post 88; the 
Lions Club; St. Anne's Catholic Church Parish; Bayoulands Young Farmers 
Association; and Assumption Parish Farm Bureau.

He was a veteran of World War II and the 1987 grand marshall of the Napoleonville 
Community Fair.

Donations may be made to the St. Anne Painting Fund in Napoleonville.

Leonise L. Ledet; a son, Stephen Cortez; two brothers, Eugene "Jack" and D.O.

Judge Ordoyne dies Saturday of cancer

Judge Sidney Ordoyne Jr.

State District Judge Sidney Ordoyne Jr. of Thibodaux died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday 
after a months-long battle with cancer of the esophagus.

Ordoyne, 48, leaves a wife, a son and a legacy of work.

"Sidney was a scholar," said Francis Dugas, former Lafourche Parish district 
attorney. "He was one of the finest gentlemen I have ever known."

Ordoyne, a native of Thibodaux, worked as a journalist, teacher, lawyer and 
prosecutor prior to his election as a state judge in 1982. He was elected chief 
judge for Lafourche Parish in 1990, a post he held until his death.

"He loved people," said state Judge J.J. Erny Jr. "He took care of them. He was 
sensitive to the needs of people who were defenseless, those who didn't have 
money or an education."

A memorial service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Thibodaux Funeral Home. 
Visitation starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Ingram Ordoyne; son, Sidney Ordoyne III; 
mother, Lucille Andras Ordoyne; brother, Herman Ordoyne; and sister, Mrs. 
Roland (Peggy) Toups.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sidney A. Ordoyne.

Donations to Chez Hope, the Lafourche Juvenile Justice Center or First United 
Methodist Church in Thibodaux are preferred.

A memorial blood drive is scheduled for May 31 from 4-8 p.m. at First United 
Methodist Church on Canal Boulevard.

Ordoyne graduated from Thibodaux College in 1964 and went straight to college. 
In 1969 he got married and took a year off from law school to work as a 
reporter in Morgan City, where he covered politics, police and courts.

"He was a good reporter," said John Lynch, publisher of the Wilmington (N.C.) 
Morning Star who was publisher of the Morgan City Daily Review when Ordoyne 
worked there.

"He loved the newspaper business, even after he left it."

After becoming a lawyer and judge, Ordoyne would sometimes come to the Daily 
Comet office and help proof news pages after Lynch became the Comet's 
publisher.

Ordoyne graduated with a law degree from Louisiana State University in 1973 and 
went to work for a lawyer in Jena. He came home to practice law shortly after 
that, joining the practice of the late Wollen Falgout.

Ordoyne joined the Lafourche District Attorney's Office in 1974.

"He was a very intelligent young man," said Dugas, who hired Ordoyne shortly 
after Dugas was elected District Attorney.

"I thought he'd fit in real well as a prosecutor."

"He was a real easy fellow to work with," said state District Judge Jerome 
Barbera III, who served with Ordoyne as an assistant district attorney and 
district judge.

"Sid was a good listener. He didn't always have a lot to say - a deep-thinker 
type. He was a pleasure to work with."

Ordoyne carried those qualities with him to the bench.

"He was not someone that had a quick temper," Barbera said. "He was a slow-
burner."

He was elected to the court in 1982, filling the last two years of the term of 
Walter Lanier Jr., who was elected to the appeals court. He was re-elected without 
opposition in 1984 and 1990.

Ordoyne presided over one of the most sensational trails in recent history, the 
murder trial of Dale Gaudet, a Mathews man who killed his wife and buried her in 
their yard, later covering her grave with a rose garden.

The trial attracted nationwide publicity. To help relieve the stress, Ordoyne 
practiced casting his fly-fishing rod in his yard in the afternoons.

"He was industrious," said Erny, who worked with Ordoyne in the DA's Office and as 
a judge.

"He had good sound judgment, a steady hand. He was a good lawyer.

He was an excellent judge. When we lost him, we lost a lot."

Ordoyne liked being a judge.

In a 1989 interview he said it gave him as great a pleasure to see an innocent 
person go free as it did to see a guilty person get what they deserve.

"Sometimes you go home feeling great, feeling like you've really done something 
for the community that day," he said.

In addition to his duties as a judge, Ordoyne taught law classes at Nicholls 
State University, first in communication law, later criminal law and 
administration of justice to police officers and then in the paralegal studies 
division.

He derived great pleasure from that too. He especially liked watching people 
learn, seeing a student go from knowing almost nothing about a subject to 
mastering the course.

"Sometimes I think I missed my true calling," he said an interview six years ago.

He was active in church affairs, serving as the lay delegate from First United 
Methodist to the general conference. He served on every major board and committee 
the church had, said the Rev. Debbie Drash.

"He was a nice guy," Barbera said. "We're going to miss him."

Segura helped to start center

HOUMA - Michael Segura, who helped start public mental health services in Houma, 
died Tuesday evening at the age of 59.

Segura a resident of Raceland at his death, spent much of his early professional 
career as the first director of the Terrebonne Mental Health Center. Under 
Segura's tenure, the center grew from a small local clinic, from when it started 
in 1960, to a major regional mental health clinic.

When Segura came to Houma in 1960 to run the fledgling mental health center, he 
had just earned a master's degree in social work from Louisiana State University.

Lumber co. founder died Wednesday

William A. Taylor, a Thibodaux resident well known in the lumber industry in 
Louisiana and Mississippi, died at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday at Thibodaux Hospital 
and Health Centers. He Was 75.

Taylor, a native of Calhoun County, Miss., lived in Thibodaux for the past 46 
years.

A religious service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist 
Church in Thibodaux.

Visitation will be from 6-10 p.m. today and from 8-10:45 a.m. Friday at Thibodaux 
Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gray.

Taylor was founder of W.A. Taylor Logging Co. and Taylor Lumber Co. in 
Thibodaux. He also served as president of Grand Bayou Land Co. and Clearwater 
Land Inc.

Active in local politics, Taylor also held membership in the Southeastern 
Lumberman's Manufacturing Association and the Southwestern Hardwood Lumber 
Manufacturers' Association.

He was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 423 in Eupora, Miss., and Walter I. 
Lanier Lodge No. 307 in Thibodaux for the past 20 years. He also attended First 
United Methodist Church in Thibodaux.

He was the husband of Lynda Wilson Taylor of Thibodaux; father of Billy Aubry

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Philomena 
Church in Labadieville for Frances Mancuso Navarre, 87, a native and resident of 
Labadieville, who died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 30.

Visitation will be 5 to 10 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at 
Landry's Funeral Home in Labadieville.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was the wife of 65 years of Edward L. "Digger" Navarre Sr.; mother of Edward 
L. "Sonny" Navarre Jr., Mary Lou Falcon and Frances Hidalgo; sister of Anna 
Naquin, Josie Galliano and May Pravato. She is also survived by nine 
grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, two 
great-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Carmela Delpesce Mancuso; 
and two sisters, Laura Mancuso and Rose Richard.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of 
the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, Miss., for Joan Vial Travirca, 65, a 
native of New Orleans and resident of Avondale, who died at 4 a.m. Tuesday. May 
30.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay 
St. Louis.

Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Bay St. Louis.

She was the wife of Forrest Travirca Jr. of Lockport; mother of Forrest 
Travirca III of Lockport; daughter of lola Vial of Bay St. Louis; sister of 
Emile Vial Jr. of Picayne, Miss., and Annise Mourain of Pearl River. She is also 
survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Travirca; a daughter, Susan Travirca; 
and her father, Emile Vial Sr.

Donations can be made at Meritrust Savings and Loan in Raceland in care of the 
Travirca family.

Chapel for Helen "Mae" Mire Hawkes, 72, a native of Iberville Parish and resident 
of Thibodaux and Terrebonne Parish, who died at 7:41 p.m. Wednesday, May 31.

Visitation will be 5:30 to 10 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at 
Thibodaux Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gray.

She was the wife of Joe G. Hawkes; mother of Jerry J. and Terry J. Hawkes, 
Charles J. Kelly, Jo Ann K. Benoit, Evelyn Kelley and Yvonne K. Perk; stepmother 
of Grover "Butch" Hawkes; sister of Rudolph, Mitchell, Herbert and Furnest Mire, 
Mary Lou Ducote, Edna Drummard, Victoria Pierce, Rachel Diamond and Mandy 
Gilchreast. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 
two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Jennie Seneca Mire; a 
brother, Cluster Mire; and a sister, Rilma M. Lange.
