A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday for Doris 
Roger Bourgeois, 68, a native and resident of Thibodaux who died Sept. 1 at 3:15 
a.m.

Visitation will be today from 5-10 p.m. at Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux 
and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at the St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in 
Thibodaux.

Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

She was the wife of Alfred J. Bourgeois; mother of Ronald Bourgeois, Alfred L. 
Bourgeois and Bonnie Bourgeois; sister to Algi Roger, Milton Roger, Earl Roger, 
Earline Gaubert, Florence Pitre, Ruby Richard, Eula Borne and Ouida Faucheaux; 
and the grandmother of three.

She is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Helen Clement Roger and her 
brother Malvin Roger.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 11 and the Krewe of 
Cleophas.

A religious service is scheduled for noon Wednesday at Church of Christ, 
Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, for Kelton Jones, 18, a native of Picayune, Miss., 
and resident of Plattenville, who died Friday, Sept. 1, at Assumption General 
Hospital as a result of an automobile accident.

Burial will be in Morgan City Cemetery.

He was the son of L.J. and Marcia Williams Jones of Plattenville; brother of 
Danielle Jones-Fullilove of Montgomery, Ala., Blake Jones of Plattenville and 
Damon A. Jones of Picayune; grandson of Georgia Williams and L.S. Jones, both 
of Picayune.

A religious service is scheduled for 8 p.m. today at St. Luke Catholic Church 
in Thibodaux for Welton Anthony "Smokey" Keyes, 23, a native and resident of 
Labadieville, who died at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Assumption General Hospital 
as a result of an automobile accident.

Dismissal will be 10 a.m. Thursday, and burial will be in St. John the Baptist 
Cemetery, La. l in Napoleonville.

The Rev. Patrick O'Brien will officiate.

He was the son of Welton S. Keyes and Gladys Starks Keyes; brother of Fledia 
Vanessa Cameron and Gaylin Marie, Gizelle Marie and Jessica Dianna Keyes; fiance 
of Margaret Williams; grandson of Clarence Sr. and Alice Keyes; stepson of 
Fledia C. Keyes.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bryant Christopher Keyes; and his 
grandparents, James A. Sr. and Hazel A. Starks.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Lawrence 
Catholic Church for Anita Rome Loupe, 91, a native and resident of Kraemer who 
died Friday, Sept. 1.

Burial was in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.

She was the mother of Una Loupe Ordoyne and Sally Loupe Cortez; the sister of 
Lavinia Cortez, Camellia Cortez and Emily Kraemer. She was the grandmother of 
seven and the great-grandmother of eight.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ulysses Loupe, her parents Victor and 
Martha Rome, her brothers Bernard and Jean and her sisters Anise Kraemer, 
Victorine Dempster, Victoria Cortez and Verna Cortez.

Church in Thibodaux for Lucille J. Menton, 77, a native of Thibodaux and 
resident of New Orleans, who died Friday, Sept. 1.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to funeral time today at the church. Dismissal will be 
10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, and burial is in the church Cemetery.

She was the mother of Emastire Gabriel. She is also survived by 10 
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Ernest Cooks Sr.

in Labadieville for Helen Talbot Rachuba, 76, a native and resident of 
Labadieville who died Friday, Sept. 1.

Burial was in the St. Philomena Cemetery in Labadieville.

She was the sister of Mrs. Paul "T-Lou" LaGrange.

She is preceded in death by her husband Peter Rachuba, her parents Villier and 
Marie Arcement Talbot, her brother Whitney Talbot, her sisters Una LaGrange and 
Lydia Simoneaux.

Napoleonville, who died Friday, Sept. 1 as a result of an automobile accident.

He was the son of Jeanetta Thomas and Gerald Thomas; brother of Stacy, Christa

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ellis Smith and Harriet and George

in Larose.

He was the father of Harvey Lee Welch Jr. and Patsy Lynn Welch Doucet; the 
brother of Orville Welch, Gene Welch, Huey Welch, Gladys Matthews, Virginia West 
and Phyllis Kirkpatrick. He was the grandfather of seven and the great-
grandfather of three.

He is preceded in death by his wife Louise Richoux Welch, his parents Olin 
Benjamin Welch and Edith Marie Williamson, his daughter, Gwendolyn Carol Welch, 
his brother Elmer Welch and his sister Evelyn West.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Co-
Cathedral in Thibodaux for Godfrey P. Duet, 85, a native and resident of 
Thibodaux who died Sunday, Sept. 3.

Interment was in St. Joseph's Mausoleum.

He was the husband of Odette Barrios Duet; the father of Kathleen Duet Clause 
and Patricia Duet Moncada; brother of Ervin Duet. He is also survived by six 
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raoul and Theresa Duet; two brothers, 
Edwin and Ruffin Duet; and three sisters, Gertrude Duet, Alida Duet and Verina 
Hebert.

She was the wife of Gary Lee Gilbert of St. Amant; daughter of Marie Sapia 
Dantin of Lockport; mother of Robert John and Scott Lee Gilbert, both of St. 
Amant; sister of Vivian Bruce and Audrey Boudreaux, both of Lockport, and Cathy 
Shannon of Winter Haven, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her father, Luderic N. Dantin; and a brother, Lee 
Dantin.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a parishioner of Holy Rosary. 
She was a truck driver and homemaker.

Lockport and resident of Morgan City, who died at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 3.

Weatherwax of Lafayette, Ind. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gray where he was a deacon and 
former Sunday school director for four years. He was a retired driller with 
Penrod Drilling Co.

Hazel Ellis, 99, a longtime resident of Thibodaux died June 10 in Lakewood, N.J.

She was the mother of William Ellis.

She was a member of St. John Episcopal Church in Thibodaux and was a former 
saleslady. She also laundered the altar linens and washed the altar vessels at 
St. John's for many years.

resident of Raceland, who died at 7:55 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21.

Visitation will be 6 to 10 p.m. today and 7 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at

He was the husband of Agnes Folse LeCompte; father of Leroy LeCompte and June L. 
Robichaux; brother of Clifton LeCompte and Anne Foret. He is also survived by 11 
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Avelia Martin and James LeCompte; a 
son, Norman LeCompte; a daughter, Shirley L. LeBouef; six brothers, James, 
Pierre, Emile, Ferdinand, Claude and Noah LeCompte; and a sister, Jeanne

He was the husband of Wilma Robichaux Dubois. He is also survived, by three

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia LeBlanc and Sylvester Dubois 
Jr.; and a brother, Leroy Dubois.

He was a parishioner of St. Mary's. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II 
and retired with 25 years of service. He was also a lifetime member of D.A.V. 
and a member of V.F.W. Post 3665 and American Legion Post 349 where he was a 
past commander.

Hattie M. Smith, 93, a native of Mississippi and resident of West Helena, Ark.,

She was the mother of Hugh Smith of Thibodaux, a retired broadcaster, and 
Peggie Ann Ivy of Pensacola, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Smith; a son, Ernest L. Smith; 
and a daughter, Norma Catherine Gilardin.

She resided in Thibodaux since 1980, following the death of her husband.

Ex dean Walters dead at 66

Dr. C. Glenn Walters, under whose leadership Nicholls State University's master 
of business administration was accredited, died at his home in Thibodaux at 
3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Walters, 66, a native of Americus, Ga., and resident of Thibodaux, came to 
Nicholls in 1984 as a distinguished professor of marketing.

"It really was, I think, a feather in the cap of the College of Business 
Administration," said Ridley Gros, dean of the College of Business and a former 
student of Walters.

"He was well thought of professionally in his area, which was marketing," Gros 
said. Walters' textbook on consumer behavior was the standard when he was hired.

Visitation for Walters is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Thibodaux Funeral 
Home and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at St. Genevieve Catholic 
Church in Thibodaux.

A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. 
Burial is in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.

He was the husband of Patricia Mohelnitzky Walters; father of Michael G. Walters 
of Tupelo, Miss., David J. Walters of Carlsbad, Calif., Gregory A. Walters of 
Donaldsonville, and Julie E. Walters of Dallas, Texas; and brother of Phoebe W. 
Poss of Cumming, Ga. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny B. and Eunice Coleman Walters.

Walters wrote nine books and numerous articles in the areas of consumer 
behavior, basic marketing and marketing channels.

"He was a person who energized the young faculty," said Gros, who as vice 
president of academic affairs, hired Walters.

"One of his goals was to get the faculty more involved in publication," Gros 
said.

Having faculty members who regularly contribute to professional journals is an 
important step in getting accredited, Gros said. It's a measure of how much the 
faculty is contributing to the intellectual advancement of their field.

Under Walters' leadership, Nicholls' MBA program became one of 300 schools 
accredited among the 1,200 in the country who offer such programs.

"He really will be missed," Gros said. "Not just on a professional basis but on 
a personal one too. He really was a personable guy."

Walters had a bachelor's degree in business and a master's in marketing from 
Auburn University. He received his Ph.D in marketing from the University of 
Illinois in 1963.

He taught at Louisiana State University, Mississippi State University and 
Southern Illinois University prior to joining Nicholls in 1984. He stepped down 
as dean in 1991, after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Walters was active in civic organizations and served on the St. Genevieve 
Parish Council. He served in the Navy during the Korean War.

Donations to the American Cancer Society are preferred.
