A Funeral took place Oct. 25 in Oceanside, Calif., for Ethel Taylor Rodrigues, 92, 
a native of Thibodaux and resident of Oceanside, who died Oct. 23.

She was the mother of Reggie Rodrigues of Escondido, Calif.; sister of Marion 
Taylor Charron of Thibodaux. She is also survived by six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harris Rodrigues, formerly of 
Raceland; a son, Taylor Rodrigues; parents, Mr. and Mrs. John B. Taylor of 
Thibodaux; five brothers, Norman, Richard, Clyde, Nolan and Clifton Taylor; and 
three sisters, Mabel Taylor Robichaux, Myrtle Taylor Meyer and Mildred Taylor 
Meyer.

She was a retired teacher, having taught in Lafourche Parish and in Oceanside. 
Calif.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Genevieve 
Catholic Church in Thibodaux for Ernest Anthony Wallace Guillot, 80, a native and 
resident of Thibodaux, who died Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Visitation will be 5 to 10 p.m. today and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Landry's 
Funeral Home in Thibodaux.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

He was the husband of Violet Gros Guillot; father of Mrs. Raymond "Betty"' 
Waguespack; brother of Mrs. Peter Deroche, Mrs. Norris Morvant, Mrs. Leo 
Barrilleaux and Mrs. Francic Orgeron. He is also survived by two grandchildren 
and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kleibert and Elda Clement Guillot; and a

She was the mother of Mae L. Lanegrasse of Mathews and Lucille L. Bonvillain of 
Thibodaux. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 
seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Reola LeBoeuf; second husband, 
Lawrence Breaux; parents, Thomas and Lucy Moore Darcey; a son, Roland LeBoeuf; a 
grandson; and a great-granddaughter.

She was a member of the St. Hilary Council of Cemetery Women.

He was the husband of Lelia Grabert Sampey: father of Joyce Adams and Annirie 
Richoux; brother of Hubert, Louis and Frank Sampey, Mary Bergeron, Elma 
Detillier and Laura May Chauvin. He is also survived by five grandchildren and 
six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eloise Theriot and Leon Sampey; four 
brothers, Everral, Alzy, Alavance and Edison Sampey; and a sister, Thelma 
Arabie.

He was a parishioner of St. Hilary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Verrett Parker and Matthews 
Verrett Sr.; and a brother, Alphonse Parker.

She was the mother of Ellis "E.J." Jr. and Stella Esponge, Melia Timonet, Enola 
Martin, Elvida "Lou" Rogers, Neva Plaisance, Hilda Collins, Jeanelle Dufrene 
and Mercedes "Ann" Guidry; sister of Nora Burkett and Nativita Eymard. She is 
also survived by 30 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Esponge Sr.; parents, Fernand 
Sr. and Malvina Callais Felarise; two daughters, Evia Boudreaux and Hazel Rousse; 
a brother, Fernand Felarise Jr.; two sisters, Angelina Felarise and Marcess 
Pitre; and four grandchildren.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor.

8-year-old killed in 4-car crash

HOUMA - A motorist driving the wrong way on a one-way street caused a four-car 
crash Saturday which killed a Houma girl, said a spokesman with the state 
police.

Amanda Isaacs, 8, died instantly after a truck driven by her father, Randal 
"Randy" Isaacs, of 222 Fairmont Ave., was broadsided at 7:55 a.m. on Hollywood 
Road, the spokesman said.

Amanda Isaacs was pronounced dead upon arrival at Terrebonne General Medical 
Center, a hospital spokesman said.

According to police, a maroon 1988 Ford pickup driven by Olin Bird of Gray was 
traveling north on West Main Street when it collided with Isaacs's Chevrolet 
pickup at the intersection of Hollywood Road.

Bird, 76, will be charged with negligent homicide, negligent injuring, and 
driving the wrong way on a one-way street, said State Police Lt. Ralph 
Mitchell.

According to State Police, the reason for Bird's traveling the wrong way on a 
one-way street is under investigation.

The impact forced the Chevy pickup, traveling east on Hollywood Road, into the 
west-bound lane and into the path of a 1989 Chevrolet van and a 1995 Dodge Ram 
pickup, Mitchell said.

The driver of the Dodge, Donald Romero of New Iberia, and the driver of the van, 
Frank Guidroz Jr. of Mathews, were treated at TGMC for minor injuries and 
released.

The two passengers of the van, Myra Guidroz and Frank Guidroz III, were treated 
and released from TGMC.

Randal Isaacs and Bird, who both suffered minor injuries, were in stable 
condition at TGMC Saturday night.

Amanda Isaacs, who rescue workers said, was crushed between the door and the 
center console of the truck, died from a broken neck.

All of the drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts, Mitchell said.

Witnesses said they saw Bird traveling the wrong way on W. Main Street at about 
50 mph before the accident.

Mitchell said speed will be considered in the investigation but won't be a main 
factor because Bird was traveling in the wrong direction.

"What's the speed limit of going the wrong way on a one-way street?" Mitchell 
said.

Jack Washam, owner of Jack's Auto Parts on 1413 West Main, said he was standing 
outside his shop before the accident.

Washam said, he saw a maroon pickup driving at least 50 mph in the wrong 
direction just before the accident.

"There was a woman in a car honking and waving at him, telling him he's going in 
the wrong direction," he said. "But he kept on going. And then we heard this 
crash."

Randal Isaacs, who suffered a minor concussion in the crash, said he can't 
remember the accident.

Frank Guidroz Jr., who suffered a cracked rib in the accident, said he saw a 
blue pickup truck enter his lane before the accident but he didn't have time to 
react.

Bird and Romero were not available for comment Saturday night.

Amanda Lynn Isaacs, 8, a native and resident of Houma, died at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, 
Nov. 4, 1995 in an automobile accident.

Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to Funeral time 
Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home.  Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the 
Funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery.


She is survived by her parents, Randal Paul and Wendy Marie Chauvin Isaacs of 
Houma; grandparents, Lewis "Butch" and Louise Marie Isaacs of Houma, and Phillip C. 
and Jane Brunet Chauvin Jr. of Houma; great-grandparents, Louise Kirk of Schriever, 
and Verlie Brown of Fort Worth, Texas; and one brother, Andrew Paul Isaacs of 
Houma.

She was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Cemetery Church.

She was a page for the Krewe of Aphrodite.

She was the mother of Ivy and Hervin Bruce and Mable Guidry. She is also survived 
by 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amanda Gisclair and Arthur Melancon; a 
son, August Bruce Sr.; a daughter, Eula Bruce; numerous brothers and sisters; and 
four grandchildren.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary.
