Thibodaux for Andre Julian Boudreaux, 4 months, a native and resident of 
Thibodaux, who died Friday, Dec. 1.

Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery.

He was the son of Steven and Cindy Boudreaux; grandson of Raymond and Stella 
Montet and Joseph and Machetta Juhas and Ruth Boudreaux; brother of Sheldon and

Borromeo Catholic Church for Francis Earl "Tibby" Breaux Sr., 78, a native and 
resident of St. Charles community, who died at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2.

Visitation will be 5 to 10 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to Funeral time Tuesday at 
Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was the husband of Philomene Marie Breaux; father of Francis Jr. and Kenneth 
Breaux, Lee, Paul and Fred Savoie, Viva Navarre, Carol Gaudet, Anita Ponvelle, 
Delores Boudreaux, Gloria Portier, Anna Fauchaux and Kathy Bergeron; brother of 
Alvin Sr. and Whiley Breaux Sr., Margaurie LaRousse, Odette Pitre and Mamie 
Robichaux. He is also survived by 37 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Babin Breaux; parents, Edward 
and Ezelle Hebert Breaux; three sons, David Weston Breaux and Callen and Ronald 
Savoie; two daughters, Mary Susan Adams and Betty Breaux; and three brothers, 
Clinton Sr., Elmo and Milton Breaux.

Church in Des Allemands for Anthony "Frar" Danos, 57, a native and resident of 
Des Allemands, who died at 12:48 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2.

He was cremated.

He was the brother of Earl Danos, Alice Matherne, Thelma Sue Champagne, Fannie 
Tregre and Patricia Cortez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Magdalena Cortez and Junius Louis 
Danos; and a brother, Junius Danos Jr.

He was a fisherman.

is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aurelien and Evelie Becnel Schexnayder;

Hospital in Napoleonville.

She was the mother of Permilla Mills of Paincourtville, Florida Epps of Los 
Angeles, Joseph Allen of Klotzville, Timoth Allen of Napoleonville, Horace Allen 
of Metairie and Herbert Allen of Kenner. She is also survived by 38 
grandchildren, 116 great-grandchildren and 77 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband; a son, Frank Allen Jr.; two 
daughters, Florence Stewart and Dudriska Allen; three brothers; six sisters; three 
granddaughters; and five grandsons.

grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Robinson Blanchard; parents, Hector 
and Bernadette Blanchard; six brothers, Roy J., Caddie, Lionel "Frank," Wilbert 
"Tee Joe," Philipp Eugene and Master Sgt. Lawrence K. Blanchard; and three 
stepbrothers, Freddie, Eddie and Charlie Blanchard.

He was a retired carpenter and a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and a 
U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover G. Cornwell Sr.; parents, John H. 
and Mary Campbell Hilburn; a son, John Cornwell; a daughter, Margueriette C. 
Stephens; and two brothers, Ben and Jeffrey Hilburn.

by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rita Gros and Martin Fayette Sr.

He was a member of the Holy Name Society, V.F.W. Post 8538 of Larose and American 
Legion Post 259 of Golden Meadow. He was a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus 
Counsel 3150 and a U.S. veteran of World War II.

Milk Co. as a bookkeeper for 25 years.

Church in Labadieville for Ethel Myers, 68, a native of Napoleonville and 
resident of Toledo, Ohio, who died at noon Friday, Dec. 8.

She was the sister of Edna Miller of Labadieville and Dorothy Richardson of 
Thibodaux. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Daisy Washington Miles; a

Former chief dies
Norman "Nookie" Diaz

Former Thibodaux Police Chief Norman "Nookie" Diaz, 63, died at his home Sunday.

Diaz, a native and resident of Thibodaux, had a 40-year career in law 
enforcement, which began and ended with the Thibodaux Police Department. His 
career ended among controversy but supporters say that will not tarnish his 
reputation as a good cop or his memories as a friend.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-10 p.m. today at Thibodaux Funeral Home and from 
8 a.m. until Funeral time Tuesday at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in 
Thibodaux.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. 
Burial is in St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.

"He was one of the best," former Mayor Alton "Checkerboard" Roundtree said this 
morning. "He did a wonderful job as police chief. He was a good family man. I 
know he is going to be missed."

Diaz began his career as an officer with the Thibodaux Police Department in 
1953. In 1957, he joined the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office and held a 
variety of jobs under three sheriffs, including tax collector, detective and 
chief deputy.

Diaz made an unsuccessful bid for sheriff in 1971. He retired from the 
Sheriff's Office in 1991 and made an unsuccessful run for Thibodaux city 
marshal.

Roundtree hired him as chief in 1991. He resigned the job in 1993, just prior to 
being charged with conspiracy to commit government fraud while with the 
Sheriff's Office, a charge he pleaded guilty to. He was accused of receiving 
$190,000 in cash, guns and other gifts, much of which was given to supporters of 
then sheriff Duffy Breaux. He was released from a federal halfway house earlier 
this year.

"He was a very good chief," Roundtree said. "It was a sad thing."

In a 1989 interview, Diaz said the key to success in public service was to 
listen. It was a lesson he learned as a youth delivering groceries for his 
father's store, which was on the corner of St. Charles and East Seventh 
streets. And a lesson he carried into his law enforcement career.

"You listen and you try to help people," he said. "They come here for one 
purpose - to try and get some help. No matter how small it may seem to you, 
it's the biggest thing that has ever happened to them."

Diaz was an avid fisherman, having discovered it as a way to relax when he was 
49. He was active in bass fishing organizations, winning numerous trophies. He 
served as president of the Louisiana Association of Bass Clubs, a job which 
required him to write a monthly column for the Louisiana Sportsmen magazine.

He used his term as president to promote conservation and involving young people 
in the sport.

He was a practical fisherman. When asked what he did with the largest fish he 
ever caught, Diaz responded: "We ate him."

He was preparing to go fishing Sunday when he died from what is believed to 
have been heart failure.

"I will miss him, I know that," Roundtree said. "The city, as a whole will miss 
him. He had a lot of friends."

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Boudreaux Diaz; daughters, Norma Naquin and 
Leslie Richard; brothers, Sterling and Edward Diaz; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodule and Jeanne Boudreaux Diaz.

She taught in schools staffed by the sisters in White Castle, Lockport and

Home in Covington for Marie Walker Cancienne, 92, a native of Tate County, Miss.,

Burial was in St. John Episcopal Church Cemetery in Thibodaux.

She was the mother of Jacqueline. C. Chatellier of Covington. She is also
