The date of death has been used to order the file. ========================================================================== Thibodaux Attorney dies Monday Thomas Guzzetta Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Thibodaux Funeral Home for Thomas Guzzetta, 69, a Thibodaux attorney who died on Monday while vacationing in Portland, Ore. Guzzetta, a native and resident of Thibodaux, practiced law in Thibodaux since 1950, when he graduated from Louisiana State University Law School. Guzzetta was a graduate of Raceland High School, where he played on the football team. He served three years in the Navy during World War II. Visitation is from 6:30-9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Thibodaux Funeral Home. Burial is in Berwick-Willow Grove Cemetery in Berwick. He was the brother of Paulette Arceneaux. "Buddy" St. Amant, 58, who was one of three Thibodaux Police officers shot while making an arrest on Mardi Gras night 1980, died at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday. St. Amant had been battling cancer for the past year. St. Amant was shot in the shoulder while trying to arrest Welmon Pharagood at the Godfather of Soul Lounge in Thibodaux on Feb. 19, 1980.He never fully recovered from his wound. He was later dismissed from the department. He later filed legal claims against the city and the Lafourche Parish Sheriffs Office to try to get a job in law enforcement. St. Amant, who served in the Marine Corps, boxed as an amateur under the name Buddy Rousso and helped to train young boxers at the Thibodaux Recreation Center. He served with the Thibodaux Police Department from February 1968 to April 1969 and from January 1979 to December 1983. A religious service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux for St. Amant, a native of Gretna and resident of Thibodaux.
