Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux and 8 until funeral time Wednesday at St. Joseph Co-cathedral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial is in the church cemetery. Breaux was active in several community organizations. She was a member of the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce for eight years, where she served six years on the board of directors and was in charge of all fund- raising events, chamber Director Denise Gaudet said. "She was a great volunteer and there are a lot of things we couldn't have done without her," Gaudet said. "She was a great asset to the community." Breaux was a board member on the Lafourche-Assumption Chapter of the American Red Cross for seven years. She was the fund-raising chairman for six years. "She was a person with a lot of enthusiasm for the projects she took on." Red Cross Director Murray Dennis, said. "She was very giving and very creative in looking for solutions to problems that different organizations ran into and she had a real gift for getting to the heart of a situation and finding answers." "She was also a very close friend and this community is going to miss her very much," Dennis said. "She was a terrific lady." Breaux, a native of Houston and resident of Thibodaux, was the wife of David Breaux; mother of Roxane Molaison of Pensacola. Fla., David Breaux Jr. of Boynton Beach, Fla., Frank Breaux of Pensacola, Fla., Patrick Breaux of Lockport and Michael Breaux of Thibodaux; and sister of Joseph and Frank Campisi. She is also survived by five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Musso Campisi. Breaux owned The Linen Mill Etc. which opened in 1980 in downtown Thibodaux. "She did lots of volunteer work when she closed her business," her daughter, Roxane Molaison, said. "Some of my favorite memories were summer vacation in Grand Isle," Molaison said. "We usually took a week's vacation during the summers." Breaux was named the American Business Women's Association Woman of the Year in 1988 because she was an outstanding woman within the community. She also served as president for the group in 1987-88. She served three years on the Commission on Women and was co-chairman of the decorating committee for the Bayou Junior Women's Club this year. "She just did so much for other people, all the time," Molaison said. "She was a very giving person. If ever you needed anything she was always there." Breaux also liked to work in crafts. Molaison remembers her mother making elaborate masks from papier-mache. "Marie was so optimistic about everything," said Laura Badeaux, a member of the American Business Women Association and Bayou Junior Women's Club. "In the wake of what appeared to be a fatal disease she was always optimistic, yet she was very straightforward and honest when ever she expressed herself, be it on her condition or whatever recent project she was working on." Badeaux said. "She was a very passionate person in everything that she did and was very diligent in whatever she deemed to be her duties." she said.
