A religious service is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Landry's Funeral Home in 
Labadieville for Cleveland Louis Ussery, 71, a native of New Orleans and 
resident of Folsom, who died at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, June 2.

Burial will be in St. Philomena Cemetery in Labadieville.

He was the father of O. Philip Ussery, Marita U. Romano and Elizabeth U. 
Karaali; brother of William W. Ussery, Frances Klinkenberg and Jessie Mae 
Murphy. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Cancienne Ussery; parents, Oscar W. 
and Leona Ferguson Ussery; a brother, Robert Ussery; and two sisters, Ruby 
Maldonado and Jean Walsh.

He was a member of the American Merchant Marines, a lifelong member of Radio 
Officers Union, a member of St. Tammany Parish Hospital Guild and a former 
member of St. Paul Episcopal Church of New Orleans.

Labadieville for Alice Mauda Anderson, 88, a native of Thibodaux, who died 
Monday, June 3.

She was the mother of LeRoyal Sr. and Roland Cole, Clarence "Cool Breeze" 
Anderson and Fawvette Coleman; sister of Annie Mae Johnson and Harrison Sanders. 
She is also survived by nine grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and seven 
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Urgin Cole and Clarence Anderson 
Sr.; parents, Ella and Amos Sanders; a son, Lionel Cole; a daughter, Eldora 
Cole; a sister, Ella Skipper; and two brothers, Herman Helper and Addison 
Sanders.

Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow for Alexander S. "T-Pete" 
"Alexson" Anselmi, 100, a native of Leeville and resident of Golden Meadow, who 
died at 6:35 p.m. Monday, June 3.

Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

He was the father of Gilbert and Roy Anselmi, Lorida A. Rogers, Leona A. Guidry, 
Austreda A. Collins, Clauodet A. Duet and Verda A. Guidroz. He is also survived 
by 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Angelina Guidry Anselmi; parents, 
Alexander and Louise Martin Anselmi; a son, Fedless Anselmi; a daughter, Leoda 
A. Williams; seven brothers, Charles, Juan, Dominique, Manuel, Halvisa, John and 
Raymond Anselmi; five sisters, Elizabeth Guidry, Irene Guidry, Tessia Guidry, 
Levita Collins and Bastienina Griffin; and four grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I and was a member of American Legion 
Post No. 259 of Golden Meadow and Knights of Columbus Counsel No. 9000. He was 
drafted into the U.S. Army in 1918 and stationed at Camp Beauregard.

She was the mother of Malcolm Dupre; sister of Emile Frank Falgout, Mrs. Roger 
(Hilda) Gonzales, Mrs. Lloyd (Theresa) Hebert and Mrs. Ellis (Vivian) Roundtree. 
She is also survived by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Dupre Jr.; parents, Joseph 
C. and Lena Champagne Falgout; a son, Charles H. Dupre III; a brother, L.P. 
"Pat" Falgout; and a sister, Mrs. Elmo (Estelle) Bergeron.

She was the mother of Mae Alice M. Bruce and Gene T. Mayet. She is also survived

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alces Mayet Jr.; parents, Joseph and 
Olphedia Savoie Thomassie; six sisters, Corrine Chiasson, Louise Pellegrin, Rosa 
Galjour, Octavie Galjour, Leona Guidroz and Theresa Labruzzo; and five brothers, 
Leon, Thomas, Louis, Joseph Jr. and Edmond Thomassie.

She was a retired teacher and was a member of the Our Lady of the Rosary Ladies 
Altar Society.

a.m. to funeral time Thursday at the church.

He was the companion of Antoinette B. Carlos; father of Arthur Boudreaux II. and 
Mrs. Dion (Becky) Authement, both of Dulac, and Mrs. Danny (Kay) Boudreaux of 
Goose Creek, S.C.; brother of Adrian Boudreaux of Houston, Claude Boudreaux Jr. 
of Bay St. Louis, Miss., the Rev. Claude Boudreaux of New Orleans, Alvin and 
Robert Boudreaux Sr., both of Dulac, and Clara Carlos of Houma. He is also 
survived by seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Bourg Boudreaux; parents, Claude 
Sr. and Lucille Theriot Boudreaux.

He was a parishioner of Holy Family Church. He was a retired banker with Premier 
Bank and a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War.

Lawyer Ralph Hillman dies after heart attack

Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Thibodaux 
for Thibodaux Attorney Ralph Hillman, who died Tuesday of heart illness.

Hillman, 58, practiced law in Thibodaux since 1968. A native of Epps, Hillman 
graduated from Nicholls State University and received his law degree from the 
Tulane University School of Law. He was a member of the state and parish bar 
associations and served for 12 years on the parish's indigent defenders board.

Hillman, who's been a part of the Thibodaux community for more than 20 years, 
had been weakened by a heart attack on May 17.

His friends remember him as being generous and kind.

"Chip and I have known Ralph for years, since the days we were active in the 
Jaycees about 20 years ago," said Laura Badeaux, who is a member of the 
Daughters of the American Revolution with Hillman's wife, Bertha. "He was a very 
generous and friendly human being who took an active role in mentoring us when 
we first entered the Jaycees.

"Ralph would go out of his way for you anytime you called."

Hillman was a deacon in the First Baptist Church and a member of the Walter J. 
Lanier Masonic Lodge.

He was president of the Thibodaux Jaycees, the Nicholls State Alumni 
Association, A past state chairman of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and is 
a Paul Harris Fellow of the Thibodaux Rotary Club.

David Hunter, a former deputy with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office and 
investigator with the Terrebonne Parish Public Defenders Office, said he knew 
Ralph for years, even before his wife Lori went to work at the Hillman Law 
Practice as a paralegal

"Ralph was a gentleman in every sense of the word," Hunter said. "He was a good 
friend. We're all going miss him a lot.

"I used to go to his office all the time to visit. I've known Ralph since I came 
to Thibodaux in the late '70s, early '80s.

"He was great to my kids as well. They thought of him like a grandpa."

Hillman was an active member of the Rotary Club for more than 20 years, Nobby 
DeGravelles, a rotary member, said.

Miles Forrest, publisher of The Courier in Houma, said he has known Hillman 
since 1983.

"He was one of the first people I met when we came here," he said. "He was there 
to welcome me to the community. He was a fine person.

Forrest said he would miss Hillman's friendly, outgoing nature, saying he was a 
man who had time for everyone.

"Ralph just had a way about him," he said. "He wanted to take care of everyone. 
Your concerns were ahead of his concerns. He was just a delight in that regard."

Forrest described his friend as well traveled and worldly, a knowledgeable man 
with a lot to offer, "... and a good lawyer on top of it all."

Those who knew Hillman are not the only ones who have suffered a loss, Forrest 
said.

"A lot of us are going to miss him," he said. "And a lot of us that don't know 
him are going to miss him.

"Those things that we never see and never stop to notice are going to go 
undone."

"Ralph was a well respected member of the bar. He was a very effective advocate, 
not afraid to take on difficult or unpopular cases," Thibodaux attorney Jack 
Wise said.

Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. today and noon to funeral time Thursday at the 
church.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.

He was the husband of Bertha Moseley Hillman; son of Ola Laird Hillman; father 
of Ashley Marie Hillman; brother of Billy W. Hillman and June H. Kost.

Sacred Heart brother dies June 26
Blaise Toups

Blaise Toups, 84, formerly known as Brother Constantius, a member of the 
Brothers of the Sacred Heart of the New Orleans Province for 68 years, died June 
26 in Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans after a brief illness.

Born in Lafourche Parish, near Thibodaux on Aug. 9, 1911, Toups entered the 
congregation of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in Metuchen, N.J., when he was 
15-years-old in 1926. He took his first vows on Aug. 15, 1928 and made his 
perpetual vows as a brother on Aug. 3, 1934 at St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis, 
Miss.

He began his 67-year-career as a religious educator when he was 18-years-old in 
1929 in Alexandria. He also taught in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and 
Donaldsonville and in Vicksburg and Bay St. Louis, Miss. Toups also spent 14 
years, from 1939 to 1953, in Uganda, Africa as a missionary. He retired from 
full-time teaching 22 years later in 1975 because of failing eyesight and 
hearing.

He continued to tutor students at Delgado College of New Orleans for more than 
nine years and provided private tutoring in mathematics to students of Brother 
Martin High School, St. Stanislaus High School and other area schools until just 
before his death.

He was buried in the Brothers' Cemetery in Bay St. Louis.

Brother Blaise is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Yvonne Uzee of Thibodaux, Mrs. 
Evelyn Comeaux of Opelousas and Mrs. Lucille Rhodes of Houma; and three 
brothers, D.D. Toups of Raceland, Carl and Donald Toups of Thibodaux. He is 
preceded in death by his parents Sylvester Toups and Emily Thibodaux Toups, by 
his brother Lynn Toups and his sister Lena Rau.

All Faiths Funeral Home of New Orleans and Edmund Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St.

W.Va., for Oather V. Lewis, 79, a native of Oakhill, W.Va. and a resident of 
Thibodaux who died Thursday.

He was the father of Sandra "Cindy" Breaux, Helen Pace, Margaret Buck and 
Dorothy DeCicco; the brother of Ruby Castelle, Sarah Cottrell and Alice Putnam.

He was the grandfather of four and the great-grandfather of two.

He was preceded in death by his wives Margaret Smith Lewis and Dorothy Hayford 
Lewis; his parents William John and Savannah Petry Lewis; his brothers William 
and Albert Lewis and his sisters Lucy Wade, Vivian Paddy and Elsie Re.

Alexina Vegas

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today at the Sacred 
Heart Catholic Church in Galliano for Alexina Cora Pitre Vegas, 92, a native and 
resident of Cut Off who died at 1:05 a.m. Thursday June 27.

Visitation was from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today and burial was in the Cheramie 
Cemetery in Galliano.

She was the mother of Linton Vegas and Elva Bruce; the grandmother of 18, the 
great-grandmother of 53 and the great-great-grandmother of 23.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Joseph Vegas; her parents Alex 
and Delaide Cantrelle Pitre; her son Roman Vegas; her daughters Mathilda 
Guilbeau and Amie Guidry; her brother Elie Pitre and her sister Viola Gisclair.

Robert Orgeron

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today al Our Lady of the 
Rosary Catholic Church in Larose for Robert "Bob" Orgeron, 63, a native of 
Golden Meadow and resident of Larose, who died at 4:30 p.m. Friday. June 28.

Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Cut Off.

He was the father of Raymond, Troy and Rachel Danos and Bridget Danos Kenney; 
brother of Daniel, Donald and Edward Orgeron and Anne Orgeron Bouillion. He is 
also survived by four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Rita Danos Orgeron; parents, 
Severin P. and Lea Mathilde Ledet Orgeron; a brother, James Orgeron Sr.; and a 
sister, Bessie Orgeron Fanguy Brunet.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of V.F.W. Gros-Guidry 
Post of Larose. He was an employee of Lady of the Sea General Hospital in 
Galliano.

Catholic Church in Thibodaux for Mary Alice Queen, 54, a native and resident of 
Thibodaux, who died at 11 p.m. Friday, June 28.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

She was the sister of Kathleen and Richard Queen, both of Thibodaux, Joan Queen 
Reed of Columbus, Ohio, and Martin Queen of Newark, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Odile Gray Queen.

She was a retired employee of the Lafourche Parish School Board.

Church in Houma for Ellis Ray Amacker, 37, a native of Mississippi and resident 
of Houma, who died Sunday, June 30.

Dismissal will be 11 a.m. Saturday, and burial will be in the Union Benevolent 
Cemetery in Houma.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Page and Mary Patterson and Willie 
and Rosalee Amacker.

Bayou Blue for Roseline Lovell DeHart, 84, a native and resident of Bayou 
Dularge, who died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, June 30.

Visitation will be until 10 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at the 
funeral home.

Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.

She was the mother of Esmiel DeHart and Lora Gaudet; and a sister, Annie 
Lirette. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 19 
great-grandchildren, 33 great-step-grandchildren and 30 great-great-step-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfield DeHart: parents, Walker and 
Bertha Adams Lovell; three sons, Sterling, Merlin and William DeHart; three 
stepdaughters, Leolo, Adele and Violet Dehart; six brothers, Clement, Perry, 
Sidney, Vincent, Menville and Whitney Lovell; and five sisters, Pearlie, Katie, 
Lilly, Alice and Maggie Lorina Lovell.

He was the husband of Maggie Antoine; father of Gilbert, Nester, Wayne, Jennie, 
Christine and Beverly Antoine, Vale Joseph and Lorraine "Lasima" Thibodeaux;

great-grandchildren.
