for Don Miller, 79, a resident of Vacherie, who died at 9:45 a.m. Monday, July 
1.

Burial will be in the church Cemetery.

He was the stepfather of Philomenia, Hilary and Kermit Simoneaux and Aldonia 
Joseph, all of Vacherie, Odessa Pinkins, Harold Simoneaux and Sidney and George 
Warren, all of Monroe, and Cleona Simoneaux of Chicago.

He was a retired employee of the St. James Parish Council.

Church in Thibodaux for Emile Joseph "T-Boy" Bourgeois, a native of St. Charles

He was the husband of Daisy Arceneaux Bourgeois; father of Mrs. Martial (June) 
Babin III; brother of Francis, Godrey and Emiliene Bourgeois, Beatrice Scott and

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile Sr. and Bridget Ledet Bourgeois; 
an infant daughter, Judith Bourgeois; two brothers, Guy and J.P. Bourgeois; and 
two sisters, Mae and Undine Bourgeois.

Nativity Church in Raceland for Edgar "Mick" Adams, 93, a native of Marrero and 
resident of Raceland, who died at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, July 2.

Visitation will be 6 to 10 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to Funeral time Thursday at 
Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was the father of Clifton, Roy, Lester, Dudley and Hubert Adams, Enola Autin, 
Nora Schouest, Rosemary Falgout and Pearl Foret; brother Ida Melancon. He is 
also survived by 30 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and four great-great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Guillot Adams; parents, Alfred 
and Henrriette Faucheaux Adams; four brothers, Joseph, Dennis, Henry and 
Claiborne Adams; three sisters, Maria Hebert, Annie Foret and Isabella Adams; 
and a grandchild.

A wake service is scheduled for 8 p.m. today at New St. Matthews Missionary 
Baptist Church in Mathews for Louis Lawrence Sr., 88, a native of Lafayette and 
resident of Lockport, who died Tuesday, July 2.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.

A Funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, and burial will be in the church 
cemetery.

The Rev. Roland Bradley will officiate.

He was the father of Louis Lawrence Jr. of Thibodaux, Joseph Smith of Houma, 
Laverga Lawrence of Lockport, Mercedes Jones and Shirley Petty, both of Gretna, 
Gloria Flagg, Juanita Bush and Helen Chatham, all of New Orleans. He is also 
survived by 38 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice S. Lawrence; parents, Willie and 
Rosa Lawrence; two sons, Herman Tross and Nolan Joseph; two daughters, Martha S. 
Willis and Elizabeth Mitchell; a brother, Frank Lawrence; and three sisters, Eula, 
Mamie and Mary Louise Lawrence.

He was a member of New St. Matthews and served on the Deacon Board and was a member 
of the Pastor's Aid Club.

He was a retired fanner, employed by John William Barker. He enjoyed fishing, hunting 
and cooking.

Off, who died at 2 a.m. today, July 3.

He was the husband of Gernice Dufrene Bruce of Cut Off; father of Ronald J. and 
Gary J. Bruce, both of Cut Off, and Michael Anthony Bruce of Slidell; brother 
of Agalonia Cheramie of Thibodaux and Francis Chouest of Cut Off. He is also 
survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Armond and Alice Cretini Bruce; four 
brothers, Severin, Eugene, Willis and Armond "Tim" Bruce Jr.; a sister, Marie 
Boudoin; and a grandchild.

He was a parishioner of St. Joseph.

He was the devoted companion of Melba Morvant, father of Tracey Corlies and

Catholic Church in Cut Off for Roy Antoine Plaisance, 69, a native and resident

Burial is in the church's mausoleum.

He was the father of Gordon J. and Nicholas A. Plasance. He is also survived by

Andrew and Florence Guidry Plaisance.

He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a veteran of World War 
II.

Rosary Catholic Church in Larose for Gary James Callais, 40, a native of Larose 
and resident of Altha, Fla., who died Thursday, July 4.

He was the son of George and Joan Bouvier Callais; father of Melissa Hankins, 
brother of Glen Callais, Cheryl C. Cavalier and Robin C. Cheramie, all of 
Larose.  He is also survived by one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Bouvier and 
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Callais.

He was a member of Nostalgia Racers for Christ.

Jenny Theriot and Thelma Melancon. He is also survived by six grandchildren, one 
step-grandchild and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rena Gisclair Cheramie; father, Cryic 
Guidry; a brother, Micky Guidry; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

She was the sister of Dr. Edgar Breaux of Lafayette, Charles Breaux of 
Napoleonville and Rodney Breaux of Metairie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Sr. and Annie Adolph Breaux; a 
brother, Dr. Ray Breaux; and three sisters, Inez B. and Anna Louise B. Burns and 
Alma B. Cox.

She was a school teacher in the public schools of Assumption Parish for 47 years 
and was a parishioner of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Napoleonville for 40 years.

grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Fortmayer; parents, Noah and Eva 
Knight Chiasson; a stepdaughter, Joycelyn Saluto; and two brothers, Ira and Nolan 
Chiasson.

was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post No. 
83 and V.F.W. Post No. 3665.

sister, Mildred Slade.

He was a member of First Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran with 10 years 
of service. He was self-employed as a fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Callahan Thibodeaux; two brothers, 
Ivy and Emile Thibodeaux; and a sister, Mrs. Walter (Lillian) Walker.

He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Co-Cathedral in Houma and was a 
past member of Knights of Columbus and a past member of St. Francis de Sales 
Co-Cathedral Usher Society. He was a retired radio operator with Superior 
Oilfield Co.

76, a native of Napoleonville and resident of New Orleans, who died at 10:12

Drew Johnson dies after long illness

Andrew "Drew" Johnson, a former Lafourche Parish councilman known for his work 
on behalf of Bayou Blue area seniors, died at 4 p.m. Saturday after a lengthy 
battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. He was 73.

Visitation was held Sunday at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma and from 10 a.m. to 
2 p.m. today at St. Louis Catholic Church in Bayou Blue. Mass was scheduled for 
2 p.m. today at the church, with interment in the church mausoleum.

Johnson's wife Jo said her husband wholeheartedly pushed for state money to 
build a complex where seniors could meet and hold activities. The building, 
ready for its grand opening, will be named the Andrew Johnson Senior Center. 

He also helped protect money for a walking track, a maintenance barn and 
several bridges during his 12 years with the Lafourche council. 

Johnson decided not to run for a fourth term last year because of his failing 
health. He began to lose his voice and wanted to be able to speak for his 
community as he had done for so long, his wife said.

"He fought to not let Bayou Blue be the forgotten district. Everything he 
fought for, he eventually got," she said. "Even after his retirement, he 
continued to work with the senior center and donate personal money to causes he 
worked for."

Steve Wilson, a former Lafourche Parish president and council member, remembers 
Johnson not only as an honest and respected councilman but as a great sport 
fisherman. Besides talking local politics, the two would frequently fish in 
Grand Isle.

"He was the best sport fisherman I knew," Wilson said. "He called it like it 
was. He was a real likeable person."

Wilson said he and Johnson worked on several projects together.

"He really cared about Bayou Blue and tried to get everything they deserved," 
he said. "I have to say that he was the most active and productive councilman 
that area has ever seen."

Former Councilman Gerald "Buzz" Breaux served with Johnson and said the 
community has suffered a great loss.

"He was a kind, gentle man," he said. "A very loving father to his family and 
he will be missed by a lot of people."

Breaux praised Johnson for his work in public office.

"As a public official he was always willing and dedicated to help the people of 
Lafourche, not just in his district," he said.

Breaux said it was always amazing to see Johnson's energy in serving his 
constituents.

"I have always admired him for his ... drive, especially through his elder 
years," he said, "To have all that energy and to accomplish so much."

Breaux said Johnson was a model Councilmen.

"He was always willing to help other councilmen too," he said.

Johnson is survived by his wife, Jo Johnson; one daughter, Stacy Jo Johnson 
Barker; two brothers, Herman and Phillip Johnson; and two grandchildren, Andrew 
Edward Barker and Mason Alexander Barker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Zerilda Johnson; one 
granddaughter, Alexandra Elizabeth Barker; three sisters, Annie Ortego, Mary 
Johnson and Ollie Ortego.

Johnson was a native of Ville Platte, a resident of Bayou Blue and a 
parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church.

He was the father of Linda Franz of Elizebeth City, Patricia LeBlanc of Bossier 
City, Charles J. Rotolo of Boston, Stephen Rotolo, Robert J. Rotolo of Baton 
Rouge and Terrence J. Rotolo of Los Angeles; brother of Rosemary Rotolo of New 
Orleans. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Mae Marcour Rotolo; and parents, 
Charles Bernard and Lucia Mustaccia Rotolo.

He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and served in 
the National Guard for 10 years.

Earnest Daggs

A Funeral took place at 10 a.m. today at St. Peters Baptist Church in Thibodaux 
for Earnest Daggs, 69, a native of Assumption Parish and resident of Thibodaux, 
who died at 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in 
Napoleonville.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was the son of Stella and Frank Daggs; brother of Idella Daggs French; 
former husband of Meryold Mae Hamilton Daggs; father of Linda Daggs Holmes, 
Gerald, Larry and Ernest Daggs and Larry, Linda, Inez and Abbigale Green. He is 
also survived by nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Louise Merliton; and two 
brothers, Nolan and Alvin Daggs.

A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church in Cut Off for Velma Plaisance Danos, 73, a native and resident 
of Cut Off who died at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday, July 31.

Burial was in the church mausoleum.

She was the mother of Catherine Lombas, Laura Stout, Bridget Duhon and Henry 
Plaisance Jr. and the sister of Edna Danos, Shirley Danos and Clara Mae Bruce. 
She is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Danos; and parents Henry and 
Anastazie Melancon Plaisance.

Catholic Church in Des Allemands for Theresa Matherne Dufrene, 81, a native and 
resident of Des Allemands, who died at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, July 31.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was the mother of Dennis Dufrene; sister of Ourlie Dubea. She is also 
survived by two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin W. Dufrene; parents, Eloi and 
Emma Hebert Matherne; six brothers, Benjamin, Eddie, Aramis, Hypolite, Alcide 
and Roger Matherne; and five sisters, Pauline Koshier, Evelyn Bergeron, Virginia 
Cortez, Louise Cobert and Alice Matherne.

Home in Thibodaux for Joyce Wells, 51, a resident of Thibodaux, who died 
Wednesday, July 31, at Terrebonne Regional Medical Center.

Burial was in Halfway Cemetery in Gray.

She was the daughter of Thelma Taylor; mother of Tahitia Clark and Nelward, 
Paul, Gerald, Travis and Corey Wells. She is also survived by three sisters,
