Naquin Bayou Blue educator dies Friday Aubrey J. Naquin, 81, an educator in Lafourche Parish schools for 36 years, including 13 years as principal of Bayou Blue Elementary, died Friday, Nov. 8, 1996. Naquin, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Bayou Blue, also served as supervisor of elementary education in the Lafourche Parish public school system. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. today at St. Louis Catholic Church in Bayou Blue. Interment was in the church mausoleum. He was the husband of Lillian Thibodaux Naquin; and brother of Sister Lucy Naquin, Mrs. Moise (Elaine) Vicknair, and Francis and Gibbons Naquin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Davis J. Naquin; sisters, Mrs. Julius (Hazel) Arceneaux, Rita Naquin and Mrs. Carl (Pauline) Bourgeois; and brothers, Lionel Sr. and Jack Naquin Sr. Friends and family recall that he and his wife Lillian were a driving force in the Bayou Blue community who inspired students to continue their education. Mr. and Mrs. Naquin spearheaded the Bayou Blue American Red Cross drive for many years. He held a professional membership in Phi Delta Kappa's Bayou Chapter 1100 and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1114 in Thibodaux and the Judge A.J. Caillouet Council, fourth degree Knights of Columbus. He was a longtime member of the Thibodaux Young Men's Benevolent Association, the Lions Club, the Raceland Fire Department's Grand Marshal Club and the Lafourche Parish Chamber of Commerce. He was a charter member of the Bayou Blue Senior Citizens Club and a retired member of local and national teacher organizations.
