Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow for Steven "Steve" J. St Pierre 
Sr., 57, a native and resident of Galliano, who died at 5 a.m. April 1, 1997.

Visitation will be 2 to 10 p.m. today at Samart Funeral Home in Cut off and 9 to 
11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Cut Off.

He was the husband of Dorothy Ledet St. Pierre; son of Lillian Cheramie St 
Pierre; father of Audrey, Wayne and Joseph St. Pierre Sr., Steven St. Pierre Jr. 
of Seminary, Miss., Antoinette St. Pierre Kieff, Lillian St. Pierre Chiasson and 
Stephanie St Pierre Angeron; brother of Douglas Sr., Gilbert Sr. and Elta St. 
Pierre and Diana St. Pierre Hebert.  He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 
one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred St. Pierre; and two brothers, 
Wilfred Jr. and Tony St. Pierre.

Westside Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, for Lillian Chiasson 
Chauvin, 87, a native of Lockport and resident of Harvey for the past 70 years, 
who died at 5:39 a.m. April 2, 1997.

Visitation will be 6 to 10 p.m. today and 7 a.m. to funeral time Friday at 
Westside Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Westlawn Park Cemetery in Gretna.

She was the mother of Nelma C. Richard, Joyce C. Ehrhard, June C. Solar, Sherry 
C. Beasley of Kent, Wash., Junior Edgar "Ed" Chauvin of Forrest City, Ark., and 
Merlin J. Sr. and Stephen M. Chauvin; sister of Oscar, Clairborne and Jessie 
Chiasson.  She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 
one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar S. Chauvin; companion, Leonard 
Trahan; a daughter, Helen L. Chauvin; and five brothers, Xavier, Henry "Nercy," 
Conrad, Clifton and Clayton Chiasson.

She was the wife of Murphy J. Dupre Sr.; mother of Wayne J., Joel F. 
Murphy"Mickey" J. Dupre Jr., all of Houma, and Maria C. Dupre of Seminole, Fla.; 
sister of Theresa P. Hebert and Inez P. Daye, both of Chauvin, and Marjorie P. 
Authement of Bourg.  She is also survived by six grandchildren, six step-
grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix A. and Clavia R Pellegrin; a 
sister, Marie Pellegrin; and two brothers, Modris Sr. and Calvin Pellegrin.

She was a parishioner of St. Joseph and a charter member of the Retired Teachers 
Association, parish, district and state. She was also a member of the St. 
Joseph's Ladies Altar Society, American Legion, Catholic Daughters of America, 
past president of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and KC Auxiliary member. She was a 
retired secretary with the Terrebonne Parish School Board, serving 20 years.

Catholic Church in Lockport for Etiennette "Gram" Guidroz Delaune, 105, a native 
of Lockport and resident of Raceland, who died at 7 a.m. April 3, 1997.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was the mother of Jessie Delaune Sr., Maude Curole and Mary Knight.  She is 
also survived by 12 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 52 great-great-
grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Delaune Sr.; parents, Etienne 
and Amelia Griffin Guidroz; two sons, Felix Jr. and Richard Delaune; a daughter, 
Marbel Loupe; a sister, Agnes Loupe; and four brothers, Albert, George, Oscar 
and Thomas Guidroz.

She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society of Holy Savior.

in Mathews for Mamie Washington Duncan, 61, a native of Mathews and resident of 
Raceland, who died April 3, 1997.

Dismissal was at 11 a.m. today, and burial was in the church cemetery.

The Rev. Roland Bradley Sr. officiated.

She was the mother of Mary Ann, Mary Lee, Nicole, Louis, Floyd and Eric Duncan, 
all of Raceland; sister of Mary Holmes of Raceland.  She is also survived by 10 
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Duncan Sr.; parents, Eddie and 
Celestine Smith Washington; a son, Herman Duncan Jr.; a daughter, Betty Ann 
Duncan; and two brothers, George Washington and Benny Bush.

She was an usher at St Mathews Missionary Baptist Church.

Thibodaux, who died at 5:25 p.m. April 7, 1997.

He was the husband of Marguerite Stevens Bartell; father of Ellen, Richard, 
Michael, Gary and Brian Bartell, Linda B. Gaffney and Susan B. Prejeant.  He as 
also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lenora and Edward Bartell; and two 
brothers, Dan and Edward Bartell.

He was a parishioner of St Joseph and a member of the American Legion and was a 
Thibodaux volunteer fire-fighter. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. 
Marine Corps.

the Pointe-aux-Chenes Fire Station.

Joseph Mayfield Jr.; and five grandchildren.

Kilgore, Texas.  He is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-
grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Arra Buckles McClendon; and

Edward G. Whyte of Thibodaux died Wednesday, April 23, 1997.

Thibodaux and from 10 a.m. to funeral time Monday.

Whyte entered the Navy two days after Pearl Harbor as a seaman. In 1942, he was 
commissioned a naval officer and awarded his naval aviator wings.
He served in the European theater and was awarded the navy air medal and 
presidential citation. He achieved the rank of naval commander.
After WWII he continued his military service as a naval aviator and flew in the 
Berlin air lift.

He retired from the Air National Guard with a total of 32 years, 8 months of 
military service and the rank of lieutenant colonel.

He was the husband of Joyce Whyte and the father of Gordon Whyte. He is also 
survived by two granddaughters and a great-grandchild.

Whyte spent nearly half a century dedicating his life to civic service.
He joined the Thibodaux Lion's Club in 1953. He never missed a meeting. He held 
every office in the Lion's Club, was a three time president and was awarded the 
Lion of the Year seven times.

Whyte also served 8 years on the Thibodaux Recreation Board, and was the cub 
master for the Thibodaux Cub Scout pack for nearly a decade.
Whyte also wrote a golf column for the Daily Comet, where he gave golf advice to 
beginners as well as advanced golfers in the area.

seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcide and Marcelline Matherne

Detillier.

He was a parishioner of St Gregory and World War II U.S. Marine veteran and a 
member of the American Legion. He was a retired project supervisor with United
