Milton Benoit Sr.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bridget Church 
in Schriever for Milton Joseph Benoit Sr., 70, a native of Chackbay and 
resident of Schriever, who died at 10:40 a.m. Nov. 1, 1997, of a heart attack.

He was the husband of Marion Benoit; father of Stephen Sr. and Milton Benoit 
Jr., Mrs. Noble (Sue) Morvant, Mrs. Pat (Penny) Billiot and Mrs. Daniel (Hope) 
Billiot; brother of Clinton, Joachim and Edward Benoit, Betty Louviere and Rita 
and Larita Morvant. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alcess Benoit; a 
daughter, Judy Benoit; a brother, Bartholemew "Jack" Benoit and a sister, Mary 
Benoit.

He was a parishioner of St. Bridget and was employed by Quality Shipyard.

Service times are pending for Julia Arsor Plaisance, 82, a native of Georgia 
and resident of Raceland, who died at 12:20 p.m. Nov. 1, 1997.

Burial will be in St. Hilary Cemetery.

She was the mother of Francis Plaisance Jr. She is also survived by two 
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Plaisance Sr.; parents, Mr. 
and Mrs. Samuel D. Arsor; two brothers, George and Charles Arsor.

She was a homemaker.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church in Cut Off for Parrison Joseph Duet, 68, a native of Lafourche 
Parish and resident of Galliano, who died at 11:45 p.m. Nov. 2, 1997.

Burial was in Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.

He was the husband of Ruby Boura Duet; father of James Michael and Parrison J. 
Duet Jr., Tammy Duct Robichaux and Nicole Duet Richoux; brother of Jeanne, 
Traismond and Roland Duet.  He is also survived by six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Zewebe and Eveline Babin Duet a son, 
Earl Anthony Duet; and a grandson, Tyler Duet

Nolan LeBanks Sr.

A funeral is scheduled for 8 p.m. today at Old Fountain Baptist Church in 
Thibodaux for Nolan "Jay" LeBanks Sr., 68, a native and resident of Thibodaux, 
who died Nov. 2, 1997, at his residence.

Visitation will be 2 to 4:30 p.m. today at Williams and Southall Funeral Home 
in Thibodaux and 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.

Dismissal will be 11 a.m. Saturday, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was the father of Nolan Jr., Edward and Joyce LeBanks, all of New Orleans; 
brother of John Williams and Eddie Carter Jr., both of Thibodaux, and Eartha 
Lee Carter of New Orleans.  He is also survived by five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence Carter and Nora LeBanks Sr.; 
a brother, Junius LeBanks; and a sister, Willie Mae Herbert.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. 
Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville for Winnie Naquin Mire, 87, a native 
of Labadieville and resident of St. Joseph Manor, who died at 4:55 p.m. Nov. 2, 
1997.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. today at Landry's Funeral Home in Labadieville 
and 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at the church.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was the mother of Mrs. Bert (Loretta) Andry and Mrs. John (Beverly) 
Stafford; sister of Harold Naquin and Rose Marie N. Lamothe. She is also 
survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John J. Mire; parents, Adrian and 
Edith B. Naquin; and two brothers, Raymond and Russell Naquin.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Anna Maria of 
Thibodaux, Later Court St Philomena, Ladies Altar Society, Assumption 
Homemakers Club and Thibodaux Music Club. She was a past member of the St. 
Philomena Church Choir.

She served as 4-H leader for St. Philomena School and was a religion teacher, 
Eucharist minister and administrator to the elderly.

Donations to St. Philomena School Fund are preferred.

He was the son of Marie Naquin Robichaux; father of Michael and Michelle 
Robichaux; brother of Larry, Russell and Tommy Robichaux, Evelyn Brunet and 
Brenda Douglas. He is also survived by one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lester J. Robichaux.

He was a 10-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Caliste J. and Lillian Buquet Dupre; a

and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Joseph Rogers; parents, John 
Willis and Julia Adams Bye; and two brothers, Johnny and Gillis Bye.

She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society.

Hilda Blanchard, 70, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Morgan City, died 
Nov. 6, 1997.

Her body has been donated to science, and a memorial Mass will be celebrated at 
a later date.

She was the wife of George A. Blanchard; mother of Mrs. Larry (Kathryn 
Blanchard) Shirley. She is also survived by two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isadore and Hilda Leche; and brothers 
and sisters, Lee Martin, Numa, J.B., Daniel and Elda Leche, Elvidge Battaglia 
and Dora Revon.

Catholic Church in Paincourtville for Herman Joseph Rivere, 68, a native and 
resident of Brule-St Vincent, who died at 9:44 p.m. Nov. 6, 1997.

He was the husband of Eva Mae Domingue Rivere; father of Harvey, Herbert, 
Ulysses, Henry, Hilary and Glen Rivere, Mrs. Orin (Diana) Breaux, Mrs. Raymond 
(Delores) Breaux, Mrs. Billy (Glenda) Falcon and Mrs. Neil (Vanessa) Falcon; 
brother of Larry Rivere, Annie Breaux, Lelia Gaudet, Anita Templet and Amiee 
Cavalier. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 
five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henri and Euila Sedotol Rivere; three 
brothers, Herberd, Jean and Ivery Rivere; a sister, Anissa Cedotal; and a, 
great-grandson, Jude Rivere.

Clarence Simms

A religious service took place at 11 a.m. today at Wesley United Methodist 
Church in Napoleonville for Clarence Muse Simms, 66, a native and resident of 
Napoleonville, who died at 3 p.m. Nov. 6, 1997, at his residence.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

The Rev. Albert Holland officiated.

He was the father of Winston Simms and Mrs. Alvin (Frencine Conetta) Thomas, 
both of New Orleans; brother of Louis, Eugene, Leroy, Loris, Lois M. and Paul 
Sims Jr., Myrtle Morris and Clementine Converse. He is also survived by six 
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers.

He was a retired school teacher, having taught in public schools for 37 years, 
most in Ascension Parish. He also taught in DeRidder, Baton Rouge and 
Napoleonville.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and also served in the Far East. 
He played organ at several churches and was the organist at Wesley United at 
the time of his death.

A religious service took place at noon today at Morning Star Baptist Church on 
Brule Road in Thibodaux for Leonard Waller, 84, a native and resident of 
Thibodaux, who died No. 6, 1997, at Our Lady of the Lake Assumption Hospital.

Burial took place in the church cemetery.

The Rev. Thomas Williams Jr. officiated.

He was the brother of James Waller and Beatrice Waller Sargent, both of 
Thibodaux, and Rose Bell Waller Williams of Niagara Falls. N.Y. He is also 
survived by a host of grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elvy Henderson Waller; parents, Thomas 
and Cecelia Thibodaux Waller; a son, Junius Waller; two brothers, Irvin Sr. and 
Raymond Waller; and two sisters, Leana Green and Earline Johnson.

He was a member of Morning Star Baptist and was a U.S. Army veteran of World 
War II.

Church in Gueydan for George "Son" Overley, 84, a native of Gueydan and 
resident of Houma, who died at 4 p.m. Nov. 8, 1997.

He was the husband of Hart Overley; father of Don "Butch" Overley; brother of 
Flossie Alford of Franklin. He is also survived by two grandchildren and one 
great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Isaac and Nora Foster Overley; 
and four brothers, Lloyd, Homer, William and Roy Overley.

He was a rice farmer and cattleman and was later owner and operator of the 
Sportsman's Paradise Motel and Restaurant in Cocodrie until retiring in 1974. 
He was a member of the Oddfellows and V.F.W. Post No. 9608. He served in Europe 
in World War II.

library certification. She was also founder of Our Lady Help of Christians 
Elementary School Library and served as librarian for 28 years. She also taught 
at Our Lady Immaculate Elementary School.

She was a member of the Alumni Association of USL and the Jeff Davis Arts 
Council. In 1986, she was named Companion of Honor by Bishop Jude Speyrer.

She was also a member of the OLHC Adult Choir and the Jefferson Davis Parish 
Library Board, serving as president

He was the son of Dolores Boutan of Belle Rose; father of Zathan Boutan; 
brother of Louis, Shannon, Avonn, Don, Mark and Heath Boutan, Gilda Wiltz, 
LaChorlotte Green, Shannon Connor and Robbin Carter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Boutan Sr.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

all of New Orleans, Calvin and Clinton Jasmin, both of Calif., and Godfrey

He lived in New York for much of his life before returning to Vacherie eight 
years ago.
