Dr. Casente served as a volunteer medical director for Lakewood Hospital in Morgan City after his retirement from the practice of pediatrics. He was a captain in the National Guard from 1957 to 1962, a member of the American Medical Association, the Louisiana State Medical Society, the Terrebonne Parish Medical Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a past president of the St Mary Parish Medical Society. She was the daughter of Elmira Williams Sylvester and Willie Sylvester Sr. of Raceland; mother of Daytron Sylvester of Raceland; sister of Donald William, Leroy and Diana Sylvester, all of Raceland, Joseph, Willie Jr. and Sandra Sylvester, all of New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her sister Carolyn Sylvester. She was a Baptist and a member of St John Baptist Church of New Orleans. ===============================================================================
