Romagosa, 75, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Waveland, Miss., who died Aug. 1, 1999. Burial was at St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Gabriel and Lydie Elodie Achee Romagosa, both of Lafourche Parish; and brother, Dr. Jerome Joseph Romagosa of Lafayette. He attended St. Joseph Seminary College in Covington and Notre Dame Seminary. He was ordained in 1947. Early in his career he served parishes in Cut Off and New Orleans, and was chaplain at Ursuline Convent and Academy. In 1962 he became the founding editor of the Clarion Herald, the archdiocesan newspaper. He held the position for 12 years, while serving as pastor and administrator in St. John the Baptist Parish and later at Holy Trinity Church. He was the former pastor of St. Rose of Lima Church and St. Clement of Rome parish in Metairie where he oversaw the construction of a new parish church and was named a Prelate of Honor (August 1980). He was appointed Port Chaplain (1984-88) and Director of the Apostleship of the Sea (1984-89), saying Masses in several languages. In 1988 he became pastor of Infant Jesus of Prague Church in Harvey where he remained until his retirement in 1998. He was previously national secretary of the Catholic Broadcasters Association, president of the National Catholic Conference of Seafarers, Assistant Director and, later, Director of the Propagat ion of the Faith, Director of the Archdiocesan Cursillo Movement, member of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission, Chaplain to the Catholic Daughters of America, Chaplain to the Catholic Physicians' Guild of New Orleans, Chaplain to Knights of Columbus Councils, and Archdiocesan Chaplain to the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher. McGehee School and was a graduate of Newcomb College, where she later helped establish a scholarship in honor of her mother. After obtaining a Master's degree in Childhood Education from Columbia University, she taught at Newman School and Newcomb Nursery School. She was queen of the Atlanteans Ball in the 1936 Mardi Gras season. She was president of the Thibodaux Women's Club, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Bayou Lafourche Chapter and the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. From 1950s to 1960s she and Mr. Plater began spending summers at the Play Garden near Millwood in Clarke County, where she became a gardener and expert in the cultivation of boxwood and roses and eventually held the position o f president of the Garden Club of Virginia.
