October 01, 2001 Hannah Comerford Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Silas F. Richardson and Son Funeral Home in Leominster , Mass., for Hannah Frances Jolley Comerford, 82, a native of Morgan City and resident of Leominster who died Sept. 27, 2001. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. She was the mother of Richard Comerford IV of Montgomery Village, James Comerford of Leominster, Jolley Siegwald and Candace Fisher, both of Sarasota, Fla.; sister of Dr. Homer R. Jolley of Moundville Ala, and Dr. Margaret Jolley of Thibodaux. She is also survived by eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Frances Shannon Jolley. She was a high school librarian in Dequincy and Franklin between 1938 and 1942, and worked one summer as a clerk in a defense plant. In Oct. 1942 she completed basic training and Officer Candidate School and was sworn into the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps. By the time of her discharge in 1945, she was a first lieutenant in the Women's Army Corps. It was while stationed in Fitchburg that she met Leominster attorney Richard Comerford III, who was justice of the Leominster District Court from 1953 to 1975. They married in 1944 and he died in 1991. In 1956, she was elected as an alternate delegate to the National Republican Convention in San Francisco. Over the years she was active in numerous civic and community organizations, including the Fortnightly Club, the Leominster Hospital Gu ild, the Leominster Women's Republican Club, the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, and the St. Leo's Parish Council. She served two terms on the board of directors of Notre Dame High School in Fitchburg and was a volunteer librarian at Julie Country Day School, Northwest Elementary School, May A. Gallagher Junior High School, and the medical library at Leominster Hospital. After her children left home, she began to paint in oils, and her paintings we displayed in several shows and businesses.
