On Aug. 5, 1935 she made her first profession of vows and professed her perpetual vows on Aug. 16,1938. She received her bachelor's degree with a major in social studies and a minor in economics from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio in 1947. She received her teaching certificate in 1947 from the Louisiana State Department of Education. She taught from 1935 to 1943 at Mount Carmel Schools in Lafayette, Abbeville and Thibodaux and at St. Joseph School in Rayne. She served as teacher and principal at St. Augustine Elementary School in New Orleans from 1943 to 1952. She served as administrator at St. Joseph Hospital in Thibodaux for six years. Upon returning to New Orleans, she taught at Mount Carmel Academy for another four years. In 1961 she began to serve the congregation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, first as Assistant to the Mother General and Superior of the Motherhouse until 1967. Her congregation service continued until 1973 while she was its treasurer in Lacombe. From 1973 to 2001, she served as treasurer of Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans. In 1990, she was given the Rev. Monsignor Henry Bezou Award for 50 years of service to Catholic Education. In 1993, she was presented the Sister Mary Grace Danos Award given by the Mount Carmel Academy. In 1971, she visited the Sisters of Mount Carmel in the Philippines. Visitation will be from 7:30 a.m. to funeral time at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. Burial will be at the church cemetery. He was the son of Martin II and Gwen Barbier St. Romain; grandson of Doris Barbier; brother of Michael and Marty St. Romain, both of Raceland and Gwen St. Romain of Metairie; and fiance' of Denise Allemand. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martin and Rita Guidry St. Romain and Gordon Barbier. Knight, 71, a native and resident of Thibodaux, who died at 3 p.m. April 30,2002. Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time at Thibodaux Funeral Home in Thibodaux. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux. She was the wife of Norman J. Knight; mother of Perry and Timothy Knight and Valerie Knight Westerman; mother-in-law of Jolene Morvant Knight, Eva Borne Knight and Glenn Westerman; and sister of Huey Chiasson Sr., Zenobie Landry, Dorothy Trosclair and Frances "Penny" Landry. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ozema R. and Valerie C. Chiasson; brother, Elmo Chiasson; and sisters, Grace Chiasson LeBlanc, Floyd Chiasson Thibodaux and Eula Mae Chiasson Gros.
