Lloyd P. Burke Sr., 74, a native and resident of Donner, died Aug. 1, 2003.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Lawrence 
Catholic Church in Chacahoula, with burial at the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria Arceneaux Burke; sons, Lloyd Jr., Mike and 
Danny Burke; daughters, Jane B. Hebert and Debra B. LeBlanc; nine grandchildren; 
and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcelian and Valerie Boudreaux Burke; 
one brother; and two sisters.

Lindsey Chauvin Jr.

Lindsey Joseph Chauvin Jr., 71, a native and resident of Houma, died at 11:34 
a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003. 

Visitation will be from 5 to 10p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time 
Monday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Chauvin. Mass will be at 11 a.m. 
Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Thibodaux Chauvin of Houma; his former 
wife, Lucy B. Chauvin of Montegut; one daughter, Angela C. Belanger and husband, 
Barry Belanger of Montegut; one stepson, Steve Robichaux and wife, Lori 
Robichaux of Houma; one stepdaughter, Sharon Roddy and husband, Dennis Roddy of 
Houma; one brother, Earl Chauvin and wife, Ruth Chauvin of Houma; four sisters, 
Lois Crochet and husband, Miller Crochet of Chauvin, Ola Crochet and husband, 
Lloyd Crochet, Rhetia Ledet of Houma and Elphie Savoie of Larose; two half 
sisters, Josephine Martin Stoufflet and Verdie Chauvin Peoples; six 
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lindsey Joseph Chauvin Sr. and Minnie 
LeBlanc Chauvin; two brothers-in-law, Ragis Ledet Sr. and Nuevas Savoie.

He was the retired owner of Crewboat Rentals and Dry dock and was the owner of 
the Cajun Landing Dance Club.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0380 and was a parishioner of 
St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Carrie E. Loupe, 20, a native and resident of Chackbay, died Aug. 1, 2003.

Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. 
Lawrence Catholic Church in Kraemer. A Mass of Christian burial will be 
celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial at Our Lady of Prompt 
Succor Cemetery in Chackbay.

She is survived by her parents, Mitchell M. Loupe and Karen Morvant Dempster; 
grandparents, Eugene and Carrie Loupe and Clifton and Thelma Morvant; sister, 
Tracy A. Loupe.

She enjoyed riding horses and bicycles. Samart Funeral Home is in charge of 
arrangements.

Theodore Williams

Theodore "Tut" Williams, 70, a native of Donner and resident of Thibodaux, died 
Aug. 1, 2003.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Williams and Southall Funeral 
Home in Thibodaux and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Morning Star Baptist Church 
in Thibodaux. A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the 
church, with burial at the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Adeline Williams of Thibodaux; sons, Lionell and 
Ronald Williams of Stockton, Calif., Leonard and Gerald Williams of Sacramento, 
Calif, and Walter Lee Williams of Labadieville; daughters, Betty Jean Wade of 
Oakland, Calif., Barbara White of Suisun, Calif., Arlene Williams of 
Paincourtville, Karen Willis of Houma and Beverly Murray of Columbus, Ohio; 
sisters, Mable Woods and Ora Mae Hamilton, both of Thibodaux; and numerous 
grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Sr. and Hortouse Williams; 
first wife, Rose Mae Williams; son, Theodore Williams Jr.; and brothers, Willis 
and Charlie Williams.

Williams and Southall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marcel Richard, 97, a native and resident of Lafourche Crossing, died at 9:45 
a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003.

Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time 
Monday at Thibodaux Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. 
Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

He is survived by one daughter, Emily Marse; and one son-in-law, Ronald Marse.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Darby Richard; his parents, Arthur 
and Emilena Gaubert Richard; three brothers, Guy, Preston and Arnold Richard; 
and four sisters, Eunice Chauvin, Ida Ordoyne, Irma and Noby Richard.

Aurora Kylee Vizier, 3 months, a native and resident of Galliano, died Aug. 1, 
2003.

She is survived by her parents, Roy G. Vizier and Paulette M. Borne;

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul and Melza Serigny Borne;

Bourg. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the 
church, with burial at the church cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ryle and Lizzy Falgout Champagne; 
brother, AJ. Champagne Sr.; and half-brother, Jasper Savoie.

Gustave "Gas Pipe Gus," "Web" Hebert, 87, a native and resident of Houma, died 
at 11 p.m. Aug. 3. 2003. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at 
Falgout Funeral Home in Houma. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today.  Burial 
will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery.

He is survived by his son, Wayne Hebert of Houma; daughter, Kathleen Naquin of 
Houma; brothers, Curtis, Lionel, Gene and Waybrun Hebert Jr.; sister, Lynette 
Liner; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Marie Pitre Hebert; parents, Waybrun 
Sr. and Agnes Mary Hebert; brother, Abren Hebert; and sisters, Elvina Thibodeaux 
and Eula Mae Shellang.

John R. Naquin Sr., 73, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, 
died at noon Aug. 4, 2003.

Visitation will be from 2 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 
Thursday at Samart Funeral Home in Bayou Blue. A religious service will be held 
at 1 p.m. Thursday at Friendswood Church of God in Houma, with burial at Holy 
Rosary Cemetery in Houma.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Billiot Naquin; sons, John "Roger" Jr. and 
Tommy Matthew Naquin; daughter, Brenda Lee Truner; brother, Efram Naquin of 
Pointe-aux-chenes; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oleus and Florida Dardar Naquin; 
daughter, Brunella Ann Naquin; brothers, Stanley, George and Usay Naquin; and 
sisters, Stella Naquin and Rose N. Dupre.

He was Catholic.

Allen Frost; daughters, Lisa Miller and Martha Lindley; sister, Mary Allen 
"Tena" Kron; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Gertrude Frost; brother,

Gertrude "Gert" Haydel Zeringue, 78, a native and resident of St. James, died at 
3:40 a.m. Aug. 5, 2003.

She was a member of the Christian Mothers Association.

Jane Grey Johnston, 92, a native of Springfield, Mo., and resident of Lockport,

with burial of ashes at Eastlawn Cemetery in Springfield on Sept. 27.

She is survived by her niece, Mary McKerall and husband, Richard P. Steele of 
Houston; nephew, Josiah Danforth McKerall III and wife, Charlene Stein McKerall 
of Schriever; grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Jane Steele and Byron Danforth 
Steele of Houston. Lacey McKerall and Joey McKerall of Schriever; stepson, 
William Johnston and family of Waco, Texas; stepdaughter-in-law, Eva Jane 
Johnston and family of Henderson, Tenn.; sisters-in-law, Eileen McKerall and 
Dorothy McKerall; and her faithful companion, Chewie.

He is survived by his wife, Dora Dufrene; one son, Bennett Claude Dufrene; three 
daughters, Myra Anne Soule', Molly Annette Badeaux and Myrna Lee Bertolet; two 
brothers, Ronald and Donald Dufrene; four sisters, Joyce Plaisance, Vera 
Deville, Reva McPhail and Rebecca Badeaux; nine grandchildren; and nine great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Mark Dufrene and Zoe Comardelle 
Dufrene; and one brother, Naaman Thomas Dufrene.

a private burial.

She is survived by three sisters, Helena F. Benoit, Josephine F. Baker and 
Frances F. Oubre; one brother, Leo Farace; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Camille J. Farace and Josephine

three daughters and sons-in-law, Ida Ann and Merrick Hidalgo, Karen and William 
Parker, and Cheryl A. Rodrigue; one brother, Bonnie Edward Blanchard; four 
grandchildren, Craig Rodrigue, Renee Schofield, Daniel Hidalgo and Jason L. 
Hidalgo; and seven great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorris Joseph Rodrigue; her parents,

Born June 5, 1906, in Napoleonville, Hughey received a B.A. in Latin and English 
at Louisiana State Teachers Normal College, later Northwestern State University, 
in 1925. She taught at Welsh High School in Terrebonne Parish and, in 1936, 
earned an M.A. in English from Louisiana State University. Robert Penn Warren 
and Cleanth Brooks served on her examination committees.

After marrying Charles S. Campbell, she moved to Jackson, Miss., in 1936. 
Following his death, she became the first lay teacher at St. Joseph High School 
in Jackson, where she taught Latin.

In 1956, she returned to Louisiana to teach at Nicholls, where she was a faculty 
advisor for the Newman Club, and she lived in Thibodaux for 20 years. Following 
her retirement in 1975, she moved to Houma, where she lived for another 25 years 
and was an active member at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.

Harry Matherne

Harry A Matherne, 64, a native of Bourg and resident of Upper Little Cailloue, 
died at 8:05 p.m. Aug. 31, 2003.

Visitation will be from 7 to 10 p.m. today at Samart Funeral Home in Houma and 
from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Annunziata Catholic Church in Houma. A Mass of 
Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with 
burial at St. Elie Cemetery in Chauvin.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Duplantis Matherne; daughters, Anne Thibodaux, 
Kayla Hennessey and Beverly Miller; brother, Nolan Matherne; sister, Bertha 
Matherne; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Lizzie Theriot Matherne; 
brothers, Norman, Thomas and Luallen Matherne; sisters, Rita M. LeBouef and 
Lualice M. Rodriguez.

Burgess Clement Sr.

Burgess "B.J." Joseph Clement Sr., 74, a native and resident of Thibodaux, died 
at 7:55 p.m. Sept. 2, 2003.

Visitation will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ the Redeemer Catholic 
Church in Thibodaux. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. 
Thursday at the church, with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Boudreaux Clement; daughters, Elizabeth 
Santana, Sheryl Robichaux, Jennifer Chiasson, Shelly Delatte, Laura Clement, 
Roxanne Clement, Donna Ranzino and Melissa Gandy; sisters, Marcella C. Brasher, 
Yvonne C. Lee, Gayle C. Decker and Hazel C. Bergeron; 20 grandchildren; and 
three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nolan and Anelle Naquin Clement; son, 
Burgess J. Clement Jr.; sister, Viola Clement Robeau.

Wilma Rivet Lagrange, 76, a native of Klotzville and resident of Plattenville, 
died Sept. 2, 2003.

Visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church in 
Plattenville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday 
at the church, with burial at the church cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Lagrange; parents, Nicholas and 
Ida Usey Rivet; brothers, Lee and Elliot Rivet; and sister, Marina Rotolo.
