Santiny, 73, a native and resident of Grand Isle, died at 8:22 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Wood Santiny; four sons, Carl Tommy Santiny Jr., Carlos Anthony Santiny, Gino Giovanni Santiny and Nico Nicolas Santiny; two daughters, Michelle Santiny Martin and Carla Santiny McVey; two sisters, Pearl J. Lafont and Ruby M. Mitchell; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ovide and Louise Bradberry Santiny; one grandchild, Lana Martin; one brother, Clifford Santiny Sr.; and one sister, Sally Thompson. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean Conflict. He served as town of Grand Isle Alderman for 24 years and was Justice of the Peace for eight years. He was member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., Grand Isle Fire Department and the Grand Isle Redfish Rodeo Association. He was employed by Freeport-McMoran for 39 years.
