John Robert Thomas, 80, a native of Oil City and resident of Houma, died at 
11:59 p.m. Aug. 15, 2004.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. A religious 
service will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home Chapel. A 
graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Old Town Cemetery in 
Haynesville.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Sherwin Thomas of Houma; son, Richard Alan 
Thomas of Gray; daughter, Janine Thomas Boudreaux of Schriever; brother, Rayford 
Thomas of Bakersfield, Calif.; sister, Dixie Thomas Mills of Haynesville; seven 
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 
parents, Robert Sims Thomas and Denver Opal Meeks Thomas; son, Barry Dean 
Thomas.

He was a retired transportation manager with Placid Oil Co. with 24 years of 
service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
