Visitation will be from 5:00pm until wake time today at Old Fountain Missionary Baptist Church in Thibodaux and from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Old Fountain Missionary Baptist Church. The wake service will be held at 8 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Spot of Thibodaux; daughters, Edie Spot Cooks, Agnes Spot Randall and Gloria Spot of New Orleans, Melissa Fletcher, Kim Fletcher, Barbara Wright, and Shirley Jones of Thibodaux and Jeanine Spot Burton of Gray; sons, James Spot of Savern, Maryland, Willie and Joseph Spot III of New Orleans, Jerome and Oliver Spot and Ernest Duncan Jr. of Thibodaux; brother, Junius Mills of Napoleonville; 79 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Agnes Shepherd Spot; sons, Michael, Alex, and Thomas Spot; sisters, Mary Matthews, Theresa Spot, Lucille Spot, Josephine Spot and Rosalie Deboue. He was a member of Old Fountain Missionary Baptist Church and served on the deacon board for 65 years. He was also a member of The Union Southern Baptist Association. Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
