Visitation will be 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at John Kramer and Son Funeral Home in Alexandria. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Rita Catholic Church in Alexandria, with burial at Alexandria Memorial Gardens. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Jane Mattis Ortego of Alexandria; brother, Norris J. Verret Jr. of Ontario, Canada; grandchildren, Jody DePriest of Metairie and Jennifer D. Shamblin of Pineville; nephews, Grady D. Verret of Thibodaux and Brad Verret of Ontario; niece, Laura Galardo of Ontario; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. "Dub" Mattis; parents, Gladys and Norris Verret; brother, Dave Verret; and sister, Caroline Kapahu. She was a longtime resident of Alexandria and a retired teacher at the La. Special Education Center. She was a member of the Twin City Twirlers. Donations to Christus St. Frances Center for Cancer Care, 3330 Mason Drive, Alexandria, LA 71301 are preferred. John Kramer and Son funeral home of Alexandria is in charge of arrangements.
