Loena Melvin

Loena Hendrix Melvin, 85, a former resident of Trout and resident of Morgan 
City, died Aug. 5, 2004.

A religious service was held Sunday at Justiss United Methodist Church, with 
burial at Jena Cemetery.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Sue Melvin of Morgan 
City, Richard and Deborah Melvin of Thibodaux and Robert and his wife Sandra 
Melvin of Trout; sister, Billy O. Walters Newell of Bedford, Texas; 
grandchildren, Laura Sawtelle and her husband Jimmy, Jean Karpan and her 
husband Dan,, Lee, Clay, Scott, Emily and Jana Melvin; and great-grandchildren, 
Jack and Maria Sawtelle and Madeleine Karpan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Melvin Sr.; parents, George and 
Naomi Hendriz; brother, Jerry Hendrix; and grandson, John Melvin.

Donations to the John Melvin Memorial Scholarship Fund, Patterson State Bank, 
P.O. Box 427, Patterson, LA 70392 are preferred.
