A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Mathews with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Raceland. She is survived by her husband, Percy Lee Matherne, son, Dean Matherne; daughters, Paula Schouest, Penny Savoie and April Detiveaux; brothers, Spergin, Levy Jr., Michael, David, Chris and Tommy Plaisance; sisters, Leanne Dufrene, Genelle Cheramie and Judy Lapeyrousse; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Levy and Pauline Matherne Plaisance; and her stepmother Adelia Plaisance. She was a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church, a member of the Ladies Altar Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Knights of Columbus. She volunteered at the Veterans Affairs Hospital of New Orleans and Raceland Manor. She was an Avon representative.
