Visitation will be noon to 3 p.m. today at St. Joseph Co-cathedral in Thibodaux. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. today at the church, with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Wayne Lindley; sons, Joe Jr., Robert, Tom and Jeff Lindley; daughters, Ann Ermer and Marilyn Touchet; sister, Catherine McCormack; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glea Dawson Lindley Sr. and Agnes Ruth Rennyson Lindley; brothers, Glea Dawson Lindley Jr. and William Spence Lindley. He was R&S Recycling Inc. owner and president. He was a graduate of Reagan High School in Houston lettering in ice hockey and served as team co-captain with his twin brother, Bill. Professionally, he worked for several major paper mill corporation in various management positions including Ennis Business Forms Inc. in Ennis, Texas and Computer Paper Corp. in Dallas. In 1967 he began work with Holiday Press Inc. in Memphis, Tenn as vice president of materials management. In 1970 he moved to Louisiana as director of purchasing for Valentine Pul and Paper Corp. in Lockport. In April 1976 he established R&S Recycling Inc. as owner and president for 10 years. During his years in Ennis, he served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 1353 Bluebonnet District 1964-65. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on Sept. 24, 1945. He served as fire control third class in the West Pacific on the DE-20 USS Le Hardy. Memorials to St. Joseph Elementary School, E.D. White High School or Crossroads Pregnancy Center are preferred.
