Cheramie, 94, a native of Leeville and resident of Galliano, died at 10:20 a.m. Dec. 5, 2004. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Golden Meadow United Methodist Church. A religious service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano. She is survived by her son, Robert "Bess" Cheramie Sr.; daughter, Lorita C. Dugas; daughters-in-law, Hazel F. Cheramie and Jacqueline Cheramie; sister, Frances G. Cheramie; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 13 great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edison J. Cheramie; parents, Tim and Josephine Orgeron Griffin; son, Raleigh "Bess" Cheramie; sons-in-law, George Bouffanie and Louis Dugas; sisters, Amelia G. Perrin, Eva G. Martin, Nola G. Pitre, Almena G. Martin; grandson, Charles A. Cheramie; and great-grandson, Brandon Cheramie. She was a parishioner of Golden Meadow United Methodist Church. Her hobbies were sewing, collecting trinkets and listening to music. Falgout Funeral Home of Galliano is in charge of arrangements.
