Plaisance, 81, a native of Cut Off and resident of Grand Isle and Houma, died at 7:15 a.m. Dec. 19, 2004. Visitation will be 5 to 10 p.m. today and 8 to 10;30 a.m. Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, with burial at Holy Rosary Mausoleum in Houma. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Boudreaux Plaisance; daughters and sons-in- law, Dr. Judy M. Plaisance of Houma, Lozia P and Wayne Richard of Houma, Vanessa P. and Ronald Baudoin of Gulfport, Miss, Mildred P. and Wayne Descant of Grand Isle; son and daughter-in-law, Maurice "M.J." and Dawn Jackson Plaisance of Gonzales; grandchildren and their spouses, Rachel C. and Jerome Trosclair, Joshua P. Richard, Shara B. and Chris Wilson, Derrek J. Baudoin, Michelle D and Matthew Peek, Christopher P. Descant, Michael L. Plaisance and Dominic M. Plasiance; and three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn E. Trosclair, Ryan P. Trosclair and Merrick A. Peek. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Maria Compeaux Plaisance; grandson, Evan T. Plaisance; sisters, Gladys P. Bouvier and Lillian P. Pierce; and brothers, Lawrence, Ernest, Nolan and Norris Plaisance. He was a retired district meter man for Texaco after 36 years of service. He served in World War II as a Coxwain in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Lauderdal in the Pacific Theater. He was Cheneiere Caminada Fire Chief from 1978 to 1982 and a lifetime member of the Volunteer Fireman Association. He was a member and past president of Grand Isle Lion Club and a lifetime member of VFW Post 3700 of Houma. He was a past president and lifetime board member of the Caminada Redfish Rodeo. He was a former member of the Carnival Krewe of Flames in Houma and Carnival Krewe of Jean Lafitte in Grand Isle. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
