Smeltzer, 54, a resident of Unity Township, Pa., and former resident of Turtle Creek, Pa., died Dec. 28, 2004. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today and noon to 4 p.m. Friday at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home in Turtle Creek. A religious service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He is survived by his mother, Mary Agnes Sullivan Smeltzer of Turtle Creek; and brothers, Gilbert B. Smeltzer of Maryland and William Smeltzer of Hempfield. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert B. Smeltzer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a retired federal prison correction officer having served in West Virginia and Texas. Most recently, he was an employee of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office. Donations to the Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15232, are preferred. Patrick T.
